A roller coaster of emotions, but for all the wrong reasons.

First of all, Hannah Telle was spot on, and the graphics, especially the facial animations, are much better. Max is such a cutie with the new look, btw. The new power is okay, but it could have been much better explored.

Starting with the bad parts, I really wish that Chloe's character being totally disrespected was the worst thing about this game. The first three chapters are actually good. I was intrigued and buit some anxiety to find out what happened to Safi, and then… it delivers ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The conclusion to the mystery is pretty much nonsense, and aside from who you choose to "date", the ending is always the same.

I haven’t played a second time to see how much your choices change the game, but from what I've seen, whatever you pick seems to impact the plot for about a minute.
Unfortunately, Max could also use a "Shut up" mod; the puzzle hints are non-stop and really annoying when you just want to explore and interact with your surroundings. Also, I have to say that the woke/SJW agenda was hard to ignore in this one—it always played a part in the series, and although I don’t agree with it, it was never as forced as DE.

Remember how people say they wish they had Max’s powers to rewind time and replay *Life is Strange* for the first time again? With *Double Exposure*, I wish I could rewind and never touch it… It breaks my heart to see such a mess of a sequel to a masterpiece.

SPOILERS

What happened to Detective Alderman???

Max's doppelganger was actually Safi... We could have a second Max, from another timeline, that's what I call a missed opportunity.

It's a soulless copy-paste of the first game; it even tries to have its own Rachel Amber, ffs.

Everyone has a superpower now, and Safi goes full Nick Fury to assemble Square Enix Avengers. ARE YOU CEREAL?

"Max Caulfield will return," but I doubt I will…

I absolutely love this game, 100/10.

However, I have mixed feelings about the remastered version.
There are several issues with the lighting, sometimes it’s too bright, and in a lot of other times, you can barely see what’s happening.
The other differences are subtle and mostly noticeable only when comparing both versions side by side. What I did, 8 years later, several of my screenshots were of the exact same scene of the ones I had taken in the original version.
The biggest and best changes were the improved facial expressions, but overall, they’re still not great and nowhere near as effective at conveying emotions as the voice acting (which will win your heart).

If you're a big fan looking for a reason to replay this masterpiece, I recommend at least waiting for a sale to grab it.
For newcomers, you will lose nothing by saving a few bucks and opting for the original version instead.

And always remember:

THIS GAME IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

Everything from the lore, main story and characters is interesting and really well done, the soundtrack is just beautiful, with some twists to better fit your current situation.
Gameplay wise, the game does a great job too, with enough types of weapons and enemies to keep you from getting bored of slaying everything in your way the same way over and over again.
Bear in mind that in order to see the "true ending" you will need to play three campaigns, totally worth it BTW. The first one with 2B, followed by the same one with a few more cutscenes and explanations, as 9S. The third playthrough is the continuation of the other two, where you get to play with another character (which I won't spoil here).

To finish it, a quick tip to those who decided to try the game: for lore reasons, you can't save your progress during the prologue so if you die you'll need to replay it all, save yourself some time and play it on easy mode (at least the final boss, the other parts do not put much of a challenge) and change back to normal once you are able to save.

NieR: Automata was my first contact with the series and made me really interested in Replicant, that I also bought halfway through the game.

It's amazing how DONTNOD managed to tell such a deep and touchy narative in only 2 hours.
You are taken on a roller coaster of fellings between extremely naive and dark moments during the entire playthrough, even though this is a completely new world with new caracthers, at the same time, right from the start menu the LiS vibe is definitly still there.

It actually surprised me with so great quality in such a small game, really looking forward to play the season 2 now.

Life is Strange just made me fall in love with the protagonist's best friend, AGAIN!

Together with the first season, a must have for those who want a game with a great story and characters who you actually care about.
