Some of the most fun i've had in years with a group of 5+ friends. Great social party game that I can't recommend enough to people who have a decent online friend group.

There are some caveats, however. The main reason I have enjoyed this game so much is because I am with like-minded friends who enjoy the madness of paranoia & living in the moment. I have played a number of pub matches now with random people, and while my experiences have been an overall net positive, there have been a handful of matches that weren't fun because people are more interested in single-minded victory or griefing.

Being the monster also has a bit of a learning curve, and requires some map memorization for monster-specific utilities that can help you disrupt the spacemen you're trying to kill. It could be a hit or miss depending on how much you're willing to learn the role. I did not enjoy being the monster for quite some time until I started learning some of the nuances of group play & leveraging my map advantages.

So yeah, big surprise. The amount of fun you have honestly depends on the people who play with you. Just like any other online game out there, I guess.

UPDATE:: Some recent updates addressed some of the performance concerns. For me, it was enough to keep my CPU from running at 100% permanently, which is a load off my mind. The game still has some fps stutters & lockups, but it's now playable regardless. Review changed to positive.

While the Iceborne expansion itself is great & I have little gripes with the changes & improvements made therein, their DRM forces my CPU to run at 100% at a near constant rate. I can't risk even playing this game any longer before it risks burning out my CPU.

Don't bother risking your rig playing this game until Capcom gets their ducks in a row and fix/remove their CPU killing DRM.
