its a bit buggy, but very good

better than eu4 in most ways, though there are a few weird UI issues and the balance is very off.

I'm sure it will become better than eu4 with a few updates. 8.5/10.

EDIT 26/11/2025: More playtime has reduced my opinion of the game... it definitely requires more polish, balancing, and bugfixing. It's still a solid 8/10 however.

(this review is for chapters 3 and 4)

chapter 3 is good (slightly worse than chapters 1 and 2) but chapter 4 is somehow better??? toby you outdid yourself again

the only major gripes I had were slightly odd pacing in chapter 3 especially in the zelda sections, ch3's secret boss being really nonobvious that you can retry unless you've already played through the game, a bug in chapter 4 (that has since been fixed) that caused me to get stuck in a single room for about half an hour, and the lack of save point before the chapter 4 final boss, but overall these didn't hamper my experience too much (except for the now fixed bug in chapter 4).

Some things I especially liked were the music, the music, the music, the music, the music, (ok i really like the music and it is in my opinion the best part of the game, just like it was in undertale and previous chapters, which is saying something given how good the gameplay, story, etc are!)

I'd highly recommend the game despite my gripes and if you enjoyed Undertale and/or chapters 1 and 2, you will very likely like chapters 3 and 4 too.

After about 100 hours of playing this, it's basically all the best parts of Factorio, just.... more.

Quality system is cool. I don't really have any gripes about it, it makes more compact factories possible which is cool.

Elevated rails are awesome.

The space age mod itself is really good - I haven't even got to the last planet yet and the challenges of most of the planets have been varied and interesting.

- Vulcanus was the only one that wasn't particularly interesting. It was basically just the base game, but more of it.
- Fulgora was cool, it was a novel challenge having to basically go down the crafting chain in reverse and deal with tons of byproducts.
- Gleba was by far the best planet (at least of the first three). It felt like playing the base game for the first time again, in a good way. The whole spoilage mechanic, once I got how it worked, was a really interesting challenge. I didn't like the pentapods, but that's not surprising given I don't like the base game's biters either.

Overall, 10/10 experience, at least triples (probably more like quadruples given I haven't even beat the game yet) the length of the game, would highly recommend.

Only issues I've had are a few bugs but those are all being fixed quickly so soon that won't be an issue.

It was.... okay. The main reasons I'm not recommending this are as follows:

- The levels had way too many checkpoints. They all felt like I had to beat super hard tiny micro-levels that were ~10-20s long and do that over and over until I beat the level. The EX levels fixed this a bit but it was still more than I'd like. This was especially bad with:

- World T3 . This was by far the least fun experience I have had playing this game, DLC or otherwise. The idea of having little minigames was.... unique. But it was horribly unfun, especially the stupid math minigame and the warp tiles. It took me over 200 attempts to beat the level compared to only 100 or so for T4 and T5, and the whole level exasperated the first issue.

- Finally, the free roam puzzles were horrible. I normally like puzzle games but my brain just doesn't work the right way to make these puzzles understandable. . To make it even worse, the fact that you had to do them on a time crunch during T5 (and to a lesser extent T3) absolutely sucked and I ended up just turning on the no-death-in-freeroam mode for beating T5 . Not to mention it completely ruins the actual point of the game because it's not in sync with the music at all.

Despite all the issues I had, T1, T2 and T4 were very fun and I liked all of the mechanics that weren't mentioned previously, especially holds and the triple-planet , and the music was phenomenal, especially T2 and T5 , but because of all of the other issues I unfortunately can't recommend this. However, it is probably worth getting if you play a lot of custom levels in the base game, because it allows you to use the new features in custom levels, or if you just want to support the developers.

I really wish I could recommend this but unfortunately as it stands I wouldn't.

It gets very hard very quickly but this is an exceptional game if you like one button rhythm games.

Try the online demo first, if you like it try the game out. (Though honestly the first two levels are some of the least good ones in the game, at least in my opinion.)

The game was pretty good but it was not without its problems.

First, let's start with what worked. The music was exceptional, the visuals were very juicy, and the gameplay from about 30 minutes in to about 2 hours in was exceptionally engaging.
Now, let's move on to what didn't work.
The final few hours of gameplay (about once you get to the diamond planet) was really boring- you just became so rediculously powerful that gameplay became "click a button once it comes up", which isn't my idea of a fun time. Plus, the supernova level was just.... annoying. not hard, just annoying with all the blocks moving and flinging you around.

Do I recommend this game? Yeah, it's pretty good, though it feels very early access. The game is honestly worth getting solely for the music, but personally I'd wait to get it until it goes on sale.
