​If you've been chasing that Freelancer high for the last 20 years, this is probably the closest you're going to get. It’s gorgeous, the combat feels amazing, and ditching the roguelike mechanics of the first game was the right call. However, be prepared for a story that feels a bit "safe" and a gameplay loop that gets repetitive long before the credits roll.

​Everspace 2 is a solid 8/10 that occasionally feels like a 6/10 when the grind sets in. It’s a beautiful space shooter that nails the "feeling" of flight but stumbles a bit on the RPG progression. Pick it up on sale, blast some pirates, enjoy the view, but don't expect a narrative masterpiece.

This game still needs a few mods to have even the vanilla experience today. And even then the performance and graphical issues are present. If you ignore that it is a great game. Also there is no need to downgrade the game to install the few mods that makes it better.

It is a great game to relax and spend some good time especially because it is not so difficult yet is engaging.
