The real Baldurs Gate 3.

I have spent the last fifteen years putting off playing this game, after dropping it during the korkari wilds when I initially bought it. Not because it was bad, I was actually really enjoying it. But I think I got distracted by Mass Effect 2. I can't remember what drew my attention away from it.

But I've been wanting to buy Baldur's Gate 3 for the last few years and kept telling myself I couldn't buy it until I played through Dragon Age, or I might never do it.

Thank god I did, because DA:O was an amazing experience. Every quest, every character, every combat encounter. It was truly far beyond what I expected. The main plot may be a little generic, probably the fantasy aspects as well, but the characters in this game more than make up for it. The companions in this game were so enjoyable and fleshed out that it makes me worried for BG3 now. I have no doubt that there will be good characters in it, but nobody is going to outdo the cast in DA:O <3 Morrigan and Alistair <3. And I highly prefer the real time tactics gameplay of Dragon Age. Guess now that I'm done I'll have to play Pillars of Eternity.

I love this game, its definitely in the top 20 best games of all time. The only thing I wish was that they made a sequel.

Good game, but if you haven't played Dead Space, or one of the many Resident Evil games, or the Silent Hill 2 Remake, or Alan Wake 2, any of those would be a better use of your money (except Alan Wake 2 because its locked behind malware, however, it *is* a better game).

I suggest you wait until it goes on sale.

The combat is fun and addicting and the soundtrack is amazing, but the environments and linearity of the game combined with the complete lack of puzzles bring it down quite a bit. The atmosphere is good but so, so repetitive. Most areas in the game look and feel mostly the same. There are some cool backdrops but the hallways you're fighting in look identical.

Also, if you're at all familiar with survival horror games this one isn't extraordinarily hard. Shortly after getting the first essence I had 50 shotgun shells, 40+ pistol ammo and 10 healing items in my storage crate. Game is a cake walk on the default difficulty. Looking forward to seeing how the unlockable hard mode is. The inventory system hasn't bothered me with one exception: the bolt cutters. If you only take your pistol/shotgun and one extra stack of ammo, you will never have to leave items or use items in order to pick everything up (and leveling up your inventory every time you can). However, this means leaving the bolt cutters behind, so when you do come across a door with chains, you will have to backtrack for the bolt cutters or come back later. If you carry the bolt cutters at all times, you will frequently be faced with the choice of leaving items or using items you dont need to in order to carry everything. I chose to backtrack for the bolt cutters, which was slightly annoying.

7/10

This is the game that Code Vein wishes it was.

Obviously I'm joking, because they don't have similar combat in the slightest. Code Vein sticks much closer to the Souls style combat. Whereas Stellar Blade is more like a fighting game/souls game hybrid. You have combos. You have counters. You have dodges and finisher move cancellations. There's also a hair of ranged combat although that's really only used sparingly except for one specific section of the game.

The combat is exceedingly satisfying if you enjoy messing around with some combos. Its not as deep as an actual fighting game of course. You have maybe 6-7 combos. In addition you have 4 special moves that can be upgraded with followup attacks to chain after the special move. You can parry into a special move, you can dodge into a combo. Its just deep enough to keep you interested in playing more without becoming overwhelming. I spent a moment to look at the combos in the skill screen. I did not do any of the optional training whatsoever, and after a couple of hours I was feeling pretty comfortable with the combos. I'm sure I haven't even used all of them, cause I've settled into my favorites. Some combos are faster, some are slow but deal heavy damage. Naturally you would find the groove of which combos are appropriate for which enemies. Its simple but satisfying.

The story is about what you'd expect. Its derivative, its cliche, its stupid, and yet it takes itself a little too serious sometimes. I find the characters likeable, and there are some entertaining moments, but the story is not really why we're here. We're here for combat and teet. The story is miles ahead of Resident Evil 5 if that makes you feel better (it shouldn't.)

Tons of unlockables. This is a breath of fresh air in a world where Capcom charges you $5 for the Classic RE3 Jill skin. I pre-ordered the special edition just for that. Even if the game had turned out to be trash, it would have been worth it just for spite. I didn't buy RE3 remake for 5 years after release cause of what Capcom has done to me. What they've done to my family. I couldn't allow it any longer. Fortunately, the game is actually really fun.

The only aspect that truly sticks out to me is some of the areas. The game starts off really strong, after the prologue you're thrown into a fun and exciting environment to explore and fight in. After you finish the first section and reach the hub area, You're in for a whole lot of sand. TBH, you can get through this area pretty quickly if you want to. But I'm a completionist to a fault and a willful curmudgeon. I spent hours completing every side quest, trying to find every secret in that area for *hours*. Against my will. If that's contradictory I don't know what to tell you.

The following areas are much much more fun to explore and fight in. IDK what it is. I think FF XII ruined me for areas like these. I just can't do it anymore. Luckily the secrets were challenging and satisfying to discover, so to me it was worth it. Upon replay I will most certainly be speedrunning that section of the game however.

I don't do ratings, as they're impossible. I'll just say this. I enjoyed this game at least half as much as I did Resident Evil 2 remake, and that's in my top 10 OAT. This game is better than several Castlevanias. It's better than Silent HIll: The Room. It's better than.. you know what let me just give it a rating. Its a 74. Its not mind blowing, It's not particularly special. But it is addicting and fun. The unfortunate fact is, I can't think of anything I could compare this to that would communicate how good it is. God of War 3 is a 100. Dante's Inferno is a 56. Did that help?

Aaaaaaaah yes, Persona 4.

The only game ever released where I sit, entranced as the intro music plays to completion. When watching Netflix, I have my index finger drawn; ready to bash the left click as soon as I can to skip the intro. Persona 4's intro will fill you with a childlike giddiness that is overpowering. Equally as powerful as hearing uncle Iroh threaten to boil a pot of tea.

Persona 4 is an excellent JRPG, a wonderful slice of life, and a masterpiece of artistic endeavor. You will get attached to every character as the story beats hug you tight for every gut punch of heartfelt wholesomeness.

This game can get you through depression, divorce, and even grief.
A game that teaches you how important friendships are to life. And how little time you really have to strengthen those bonds.

The soundtrack sets the tone perfectly, and the combat options allow for in-depth analysis, or casual story focused fun.
The story is interesting enough to reel you in, just before the characters slap you flat on the stern and cut you wide open to expose your heart, as you flounder helplessly.

I don't give ratings, as games are very hard to rate numerically. How do you compare this game to Final Fantasy XII, or Fallout 3? All I can say is, this game is 100% worth a playthrough for anyone who likes anime, and especially anyone who likes wholesome, eyebleach style content. Did you enjoy Lilo & Stitch? Well bring dat ass here boy.

This game is the game I will be playing on my deathbed.

Quite frankly the most underrated video game ever developed. I first entered the zone amidst Obama's first campaign for emperor of planet earth back in the late 2000s. My first playthrough took me a little over 60 hours. This was during a time when steam would only log playtime for up to two weeks, than poof.

I remember absolutely loving the game upon its release. I even played a little multiplayer for a while when it was populated. The multiplayer was jank as hell, and everyone had terrible ping. Pretty sure I hovered in the 300s. Nobody cared, we loved being in the zone.

Garbage, Bar, Wild Territory, on and on. This game is more about the characters then the quests, and the characters are mostly silent. Its about exploring new and interesting locations that are sometimes creepy, but always atmospheric. It is a game that compels you to become immersed in it. To a degree which few other games can even dream of achieving.

This game right here? This is the rose that grew from concrete. Upon re-installation of the game with the addition of Autumn Aurora 2, I basically became the zone. Putting down bandits like old yellar, I sought after Strelok, stalking him as if I could predict his every move. I penetrated the most savage of irradiated lands ducking under anomalies that could shatter shins in an instant, just to recover another marvelous meat chunk.

Upon exiting the lab in Yantar, with rain pitter-pattering down on my computer screen as I gazed off into the clouds, I realized this was life. Hunched over my computer desk, headphones up to my neck and surrounded in complete darkness, I was home.

I knew now that I could never return to an existence outside of the zone.

Whether you like sausage or canned tuna, you will enjoy this game. Just embrace the archaic user interface and I'm confident you will manage.

A very rewarding game that punishes you for every mistake. When you finally conquer it, you will probably start a new character immediately.

Fallout New Vegas is by far my favorite Fallout game. I've finished the game 3 times and have completed all of the DLC with the exception of Old World Blues. Whenever I remember that first moment when you come across Caesar's Legion I know that I've just got to do another playthrough.

What makes this Fallout so much more special than the others in my opinion are the unique quests and the excellent characters that inhabit those quests. Obsidian really took the time to breathe life into these characters, and make them feel as though they truly belong to the Mojave. That goes for everyone including the character's companions, each of which have a unique quest which can be completed in order to learn more about their backstories.

Obsidian seems to be one of the few developers capable of writing dialogue branches that convincingly showcase your character's personality and morality that you have decided upon. You really get the feeling that you have a wide array of possibilities for your character at your disposal. This is amplified further via the quest lines presented by the different factions.

I doubt another RPG world will ever hold my interest for as long as the Mojave.

Borderlands 2 improves on the original in many, many ways. More varied weaponry, new locations that don't all look the same, and tons of new skills to try out with the new characters. Unfortunately there are still some bugs I found in my experience so far but nothing game altering, just weird glitches. Although there are a lot of different guns, all of the gun manufacturers in the game add the same effect to their guns. Certain brands have special reload animations and some have actual gameplay effecting mechanics. I just wish they were more varied since there aren't a ton of different gun manufacterers in the game. All in all, a very addicting and fun experience. I will lose hundreds of hours to this game.
