Imagine Terraria, but 3D, with Vikings, and Dark Souls style bosses.

The best thing about this game is that you can dedicate yourself to constructing cool bases or exploration, or work as a team to accomplish as much as you can. The PS1 style graphics don't detract from the fact that the engine and effects combine to produce a beautiful art style.

I've only just started this game, but the teamwork required and the absolute solitude of feeling like you're all crammed in a tin tube surrounded by an extremely hostile and crushing environment, is dizzying. Until you're exploring another sub wreck with just your suit, 3 canisters of rapidly decreasing air, and only your smg to defend you, you don't realise how dangerous just a single hostile fish could become...

Harrowing, exciting, and detailed. It's an exercise in teamwork, diligence, and dedication - both the creation of the game and the playing of it.

Never thought I'd be into a Dark Souls game, heard the learning curve is steep and thought I'd find it frustrating to die over and over to the same boss.

I was so wrong.

It took me a while to really get into this game. I started playing it and found the ui took clunky to use at first. The game is very different to say Skyrim - it doesn't hold your hand in combat or even trying to figure out where to go in quests (the map interface is horrible and sometimes quest markers aren't very useful.

Despite this, I came back to it a year later recently and spent a good solid 40 hours straight playing it. I decided to take it slow at first and get a firm grasp of controls while throwing myself into the "missions" and taking combat one fight at a time.

I can honestly say that despite the few interface issues I had before, this game is beautiful, addictive, and challenging. I remember the first big monster I took on (not the story one) and how I learned at first to go all in, and then after dying, figuring out how to watch it's moves and behaviour. Killing it was elating. Then I killed something bigger, then I killed more of the first one (3 in one dungeon... that was a surprise).

Finally I killed my first dragon at lvl 28. I just remember killing a cyclops somewhere (I was kinda lost), and I looked around trying to figure out where to go and I saw a Drake through the trees. I knew I was too low a lvl to proper challenge this thing but figured I'd give it a go.

An hour later and many health plants and Pawn deaths, I finally killed it and I felt that elation of facing something way outside of your ability and triumphing anyway.

This game will stick with me for an extremely long time.

If at first you don't succeed... seriously, just persevere - it's worth it!
