Doesn't hit the highs of Men of War 1's or Red Tide's campaign, but the various game modes are neat, especially in co-op, and the foundation is still solid as ever.

A great action game, and extremely good mech game.

Very interesting and compelling predictive tactics, involved customisation, and it looks gorgeous too. Despite paper thin world-building and story this is a mech game delight.

A tight, polished squad tactics game that emphasises different combinations of soldiers, skill-tree abilities, and equipment. Although smaller in scope than X-Com there's lots in here to chew on and enjoy.

If you like and actively play BattleTech, Urban Warfare is a good addition. The introduction of Urban Maps and stealth mechanics adds variety to the tactical layer more significantly than the Flashpoint expansion, introducing new play styles and positioning challenges. In addition, Urban Warfare is wrapped in new mini story flashpoint missions that feature very strong scenario design and writing, as well as charming in-jokes and fan favourites. An extra multiplayer map is a nice albeit slight addition too. Alone Urban Warfare is pricey for anyone not already into BattleTech, so I'd suggest waiting for a sale or considering a discounted season pass.

Into the Breach is the type of game that will have you -agonising- over a single turn, chewing on each of your decisions and the possible outcomes they might yield. For this reason, Into the Breach is like a tactical crossword puzzle, best played with a snack or a hot cup of coffee to sate your concentration. Much of the experience is about prediction: meticulously planning for your opponent or setting up the perfect counter-attack in advance. When plans fail Into the Breach turns into a game about damage mitigation, having you think on the fly to resolve your past poor decisions. Thoughtful visual design surfaces vital information, doing much to aid your efforts. Consequentially, failure rarely feels out of your control. In the aftermath you’ll likely feel compelled to reflect, and put lessons learned into practice in the next battle. Coupled with gradual but varied persistence and charming pixelated mechs and monsters, there’s a lot of depth and character on offer. Simply put, Into the Breach is a sublime tactics game.
