I was bored, and this game was collecting dust in my library, so I figured I would give it a try. The game is completely abandoned and crashes shortly after loading in a single player game.

This game is pretty and it runs well. It's obviously early access - there isn't much to do except farming mats to build your home and crafting stations. My major complaints were issues with trees growing in my base, and animals that would sometimes stutter, run sideways, or rubber band. It was more annoying than game breaking, but the biggest issue for a game that relies on players for content is when there are next to no players.

The devs seem like they've had a lot of goals in mind and I truly looked forward to seeing how they would mold the game, but I think at this point it's clear that they aren't going to do much with this game at all, and charging a fee to build in a barren game with hardly anything to do, tells me this is another doomed title; with promise...

I played during beta and at launch, then stopped for a lack of things to do (Steam isn't showing how many hours I've really played this game; only recent hours as I did not have the Steam version previously, but rather synced my original account. I actually pre-ordered the game ahead of release years ago, straight through Bethesda).

With that being said, like many others, I decided to revisit the game after Amazon released the Fallout TV series. I am sad to say the game did not scratch my itch to play - it just made me want to install Fallout 4.

Cons:
  • Whitesprings has not only been locked behind grinding factions, but parts of the area spawns were completely broken.
  • There were a few bugged quests.
  • Inventory management was terrible and felt impossible.
  • Inventory expansion beyond the first backpack is so grindy it's sad and feels defeating - especially when you're already over carry weight.
  • Solutions to storage space are pay-walled.

Pros
  • The NPC(s) and random scavengers are a nice touch (but not enough - still feels static).
  • The community is mostly pleasant.

Considering how long this game has been released, I could not recommend it.

The game needs tweaks to make it playable concerning difficulty, but with the settings available to the player this can easily be adjusted to your liking, and the devs seem to be working on balance.

Conceptually, the game is fun, and the graphics do look pretty - there are some great scenic views as well. I would however suggest to the devs that more of the in game assets on the map need to be interactable (like being able to sit on chairs, and climb ladders), or destructible (let me clean up the yard of the folding chairs, and misc clutter). Having more trap options and more building items to craft would also be nice. I will say that I do like the building placement system though, as it allows you to do more than average cookie cutting.

My biggest complaint however, which is a rather large one about this game is the frequent crashing. It has gotten to a point that I can't play the game longer than 5 min or so. Despite lowering the graphics settings, and setting max fps to 60, this game still manages to take up all 32 gigs of my ram, and max out both the memory and power on my GPU and processor. Rebooting, restarting the game, lowering all settings on this game, verifying the integrity of the files - it doesn't matter, because it will still crash frequently without warning (normal game play is pretty smooth when the game isn't crashing).

All in all it's an impressive title considering there is only two people developing this game. I just wish I could play it more.

I was pleasantly surprised. So far, the game is enjoyable, and the community has been relatively nice. The game doesn't have your standard polish - it has a very old school feel to it. I love the fact that there are no real set classes, and that you can equip whatever you want. I also like the crafting system thus far.

I've owned this game since the start of EA. I occasionally pick up the game, and put it back down, just to see if any progress has been made.

The game would be really fun if it weren't so buggy, and had some content. Once you build your base, that's it. There isn't anything to do.

I get that it's EA, but I am not seeing bugs get squashed in a reasonable amount of time. In fact, I would go as far as to say that there are more bugs now than when I played the game at the launch of EA. I would be relatively surprised if they produced anything close to a finished product.

Very cool concept, but very poor design. The controls are slightly awkward, and despite schooling the recommended specs, the game still runs like hot garbage. I would say it's not worth buying now until they fix performance issues at the very least.

This game is very promising, and the devs seem to be putting in effort (I would not call it vaporware.) The game is in early stages, and is still rough - it's clearly not finished, but playing it from time to time in small doses is not entirely unenjoyable; I would highly reccomend group play (solo kind of sucks,) and if I'm being honest the game servers seem to be mostly vacant the majority of the time.

With that said, buy this game if you want to support the devs, and understand that it's in a testing phase, including what all of that entails. Do not buy this game if you're expecting a finished/polished product; it's a work in progress.

Also, I am just putting this out there because I've seen people mention that they can't run the game with decent specs, but I've had no issues with running the game. My current build is an i-7 6700k, 32 gigs of ram, GTX 1060 OC (6g), and an m.2 ssd; the game runs just peachy. I would suggest updating your drivers if you have issues running the game and are well within the requirement range (hardware wise.)

I've owned this game for quite some time. It's sad to see that it hasn't updated in almost an entire year. This is another one of those "it has potential games," but it never panned out because the devs have clearly abandoned ship.

I've played the game on and off again since the release of EA. I can say that this is one of the few EA games that have actually improved a great deal upon release, and the devs have made good on most of their promises.

I would recommend this game, as it's one of the more optimized and asthetically appealing survival games out there. Another good point to make is that it's not dead. There are tons of poorly optimized and un-balanced survival games with awesome looking trailers that are dead or abandoned by the devs - this is not one of those games.
