There’s something different about Dispatch. It’s one of those games where everything feels the same, but then it reveals its personality through new details. I came in expecting something closer to Invincible based on the art — you know, chaotic, crazy, and heavy on action. Instead, I found something unexpected and personal.

You play as Robert Robertson, a former hero whose mech suit was destroyed after a gang fight, now relegated to desk duty at a “superhero dispatch” office. It’s a clever twist on the hero formula — instead of saving the world with your ironman suit, you’re doing it through communication, and decision-making. The setting feels fresh, both humorous, satirical, and strangely sincere at the same time.

The writing is where Dispatch really shines. It’s sharp, witty, and full of emotional texture. The dialogue feels natural — the kind of back-and-forth that sounds like real people, not scripted lines. As Chase puts it, “We laugh, we joke, we suppress our trauma.” Couldn’t have said it better. The voice acting sells it even more as it feels like something you’d see from an Amazon Prime show, not an indie game. The soundtracks are on point, especially at the end of Episode 2 when the game plays Pound Cake by Thot Squad. I was like holy ♥♥♥♥♥, the song fits the closing twist (perhaps also mocking the girl's body and attitude as well) so well and ends on a crazy note to make you want the next episode right away.

On the gameplay side, the management and dispatch system adds an interesting layer. Assigning heroes to different incidents, managing stats and cooldowns — it feels light but also chaotic at the same time. Some heroes even give you troubles instead. The game gives you just enough instructions, hints, and control to feel responsible for every outcome. That said, with only two episodes available so far, the mechanics feels short, but hopefully, the devs will release a gameplay-only mode in the future.

Still, even with its limited content right now, Dispatch is absolutely worth your time. If people are willing to pay $20–25 for a two-hour movie, paying $27 for guaranteed eight hours of well-written story feels like a steal — especially when you’re likely spending more on streaming subscriptions to get shows like The Boys or Invincible.

TL, DR:
Pros:
- Exceptional writing.
- Great art, scores, designs.
- Strong voice acting.
- Simple, well-paced gameplay with satisfying QTE moments or you can do cinematic with no QTEs.

Cons
- Episodic release structure — waiting for the next part hurts when the story leaves you on the freaking edge.
- So far, only one hero gets a cutscene during a mission, not everyone. Linear narrative.
- Gameplay time are short so far, making upgrades feel a bit unsatisfying.
- You can’t replay without redoing the whole episode.
- No replay-only mode yet — which would be perfect for revisiting gameplay without rewatching cutscenes.
