This is a really tough one for me, overall the game is fantastic. Expands and adds a lot of new elements over previous titles from this genre. The animals look and behave in an absolutely incredible way. I would suggest this as the #1 Zoo Builder/Manager these days. However, it has it's faults. The path system is the game is kind of a joke to be honest. It feels as if the devs don't want you to actually create anything realistic and natural. Typically you have to resort bugging out or tricking the system in order to get what you want, which of course can be extremely frustrating. The fact that this game as well as Planet Coaster don't offer full workshop support is a joke, there is much room for very basic improvements such as a brush tool for trees and other fauna. We know the only reason you're not offering full workshop support is so people don't create things you want to sell as DLC. I don't know if you'd noticed. But Paradox Interactive receive nothing but praise for their support of the community and workshop with Cities Skylines.

Maybe take a leaf out of their book and stop holding your community back. You knew you're community wasn't happy with the pathing system in Planet Coaster but you still copied and pasted the entire thing into this.

Yes you should buy the game if you like this kind of thing, but you should be prepared to get annoyed with its janky mechanics regularly .

The Total War: Warhammer series has been great. But CA have gone too linear with the campaign on the final instalment to the point of it being dull and almost feeling like a separate game entirely. The new factions and units look great, the map feels pretty empty to be honest but whatever I can deal with that. The new settlements are so much better and more interesting. The fortify mechanics are cool but aren't really utilised by the AI in my experience (At least not well). The new multiplayer campaign aspects are a welcome change. Whilst I am all for new mechanics and ways of playing the game. The story itself just feels dry. Its not bland, it's just not very interesting. My major issue with the current state of the game (pre immortal empires) is the jarring way the story line has you play the game. One moment you're going about your usual Total War business. Next minute you have to march your faction lord off to the chaos realms to compete with other factions to claim a soul or some ♥♥♥♥ (I have been paying attention to the story. I am well aware of why I need these souls and what I have to do. I just don't care and the game isn't doing a particularly good job of getting me to give a ♥♥♥♥).

I spent a solid 30 minutes navigating the teleporters in the Lord of Change's realm losing half my army in the process. Only for another faction to come in, go through the exact same portal I went through when I first entered and get straight to the objective, at which point they promptly got the soul and my quest was aborted. What the ♥♥♥♥. As I said, I appreciate all the new mechanics and visual styling. But playing the actual story just feels boring and unrewarding.

The new customisation mechanic for your chaos lord is very cool. However, you acquire new rewards very quickly and it becomes a little much to navigate and keep track of exactly what it is you're doing. IMO it would be a good idea if each section e.g. Head, Torso, left arm, right arm, etc were split into categories for each of the four chaos Gods. Rather than having to scroll through every option you have you can just say to yourself "I want more of a melee based lord" and go to the Khorne section of parts and select which is best for you.

My advice, wait until Immortal Empires come out as it's current state is pretty meh compared to TW:W2. Overall I give it a 6/10. A lot of new and cool stuff but it just doesn't feel like Total War.

P.S. For the love of God CA, put some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ effort into your unit cards. They are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bland and people have been complaining at you about this for the entire series. They look like some ♥♥♥♥ Games Workshop would of produced 20 years ago!

Waited nearly an hour just to play and it's still saying the game is at capacity. This is the kind of pathetic issue that shouldn't effect AAA titles. Get your ♥♥♥♥ together Bungie. It looks really fun, but I wouldn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ know...

SCUM...

In many ways picks up where the DayZ standalone fell off the map. This game has amazing potential to breathe new life into the survival genre. As it currently stands the multiplayer leaves a lot to be desired. Mainly due to most players knowing where to find the high end loot and quickly growing bored of other challenges the game presents, thus they begin the slaughter of lesser equipped players. The net-code and lag issues also tend to make multiplayer a rather tedious endeavour, as when you chance upon another player within the incredible 144Km2 map SCUM boasts, you will find the combat rather clunky and extremely un-immersing due to the issues stated. Thankfully Single Player is available, allowing you to experience the true breadth of PVE this game will forever continue to throw at you. Whilst I have myself not yet grown bored of SCUM. I find myself distancing from the game as I want to be able to return time and time again to find even more wonderful updates and patches, that have not only served to improve the overall experience so far. But continue to add more dimensions to this in depth take on survival mechanics.

I have played somewhere in the region of 5000 combined hours across multiple survival games. Most notably, DayZ. Both the original mod and all of it's sub mods as well as the standalone. Already DayZ pales in comparison to this, the latest edition to the hardcore survival genre. The level of detail is simply staggering, regardless of how much you research into the game prior to playing it yourself, you will inevitably become overwhelmed by the vast array of stats the game offers. All of which have an effect on your character in game, ranging from relatively harmless to stat effecting, most can even be life threatening. SCUM is extremely punishing to players who do not play with common sense, would you cross a river to get from A to B in real life? Of course you wouldn't. You're clothes would be soaked through, which could cause you to get sick. On top of that due to the water they would have soaked up you are now carrying more weight. All of these real life decisions and effects are proudly displayed with incredible detail and precision within the game.

The overall graphics quality is also a huge step up compared to what we are used to seeing from previous titles. It reminds me of ARMA III, only with a more polished feel. The lighting, enviroment, and even the foliage is totally immersing. However there is one area I feel could use some improvements. Obviously the game is in beta and not without its share of bugs and glitches. But despite all of this, my only gripe with the game is the UI, I find the HUD and inventory/crafting screen rather basic and lacking compared with the rest if the game. I am sure this will be changed at a later date as it does seem to be a little too standard for a game with this amount of detail to stick with. But if I had to make a criticism, that would be it.

Over all SCUM already offers so much more than most other games within the genre. I am greatly looking forward to the future of this game.

8.5/10
