Co-op PvE destruction and carnage on a persistent galactic war. The actions taken by the community and their abilities to overcome the obstacles before them (or to fail trying) actively shape the game itself.

The satirical lore-base for the game give an absolutely wonderful world to arbitrarily dispense Freedom in the form of high-yield explosives, chemical weapons, orbital lasers, and nukes! Game is ripe with a rich satire element and clear influences from popular media and crank that up to 10.

The attention to detail and care in the game is phenomenal, from tiny signs on walls to the logs scattered around the random Points of Interest, to the Ministry of Truth broadcasts in your ship's TV updating you on tactics of the game, the state of the war, or just giving a canned propaganda speech all help shape a community who wants to ruthlessly serve in the goals of their Super Earth to kill more bugs and more bots, with every death a new Helldiver drops for you to hopefully last a little longer than the last (as long as our budget allows!)

There's been a Capital G Gamer firestorm over balancing that needed to happen. Max level gamers uber-efficiency grinding the meta-game away have made a big stink, but the game needs the variety. This game is not a hyper-efficiency Twitch game, and is trying to build a community and persistent war that is engaging to be involved in even as you end up doing similar tasks and missions on your way to liberating a planet from Automatons or defending against a new invasion of Terminids.

Having a one-size-fits-all solution weapon is NOT tenable for a game attempting to get you to coordinate with your fellow Helldivers and cover one another's weaknesses in loadout choices.

The devs are nowhere near done getting this ball rolling, and have demonstrated a care to their vision and willingness to engage with the community that I hope isn't squandered by petulant raging over a favorite toy being brought in-line with the rest of the game.

Overall, a fantastic game I'm excited to continue to play and be involved in.
