Tried this during free weekend. Honestly its not worth it, not even on discount.

You can't play solo, always forced to play public. You can make a private lobby only when playing with another person in the lobby.
Permadeath is a really bad game design. If you fail the run, there is no pity reward, not even some small xp for your profile or anything. Also, if you quit to main menu or the game crashes, then your character gets deleted. Yeah, if you had a character that already made some progress and your game crashes, kiss that progress goodbye. Not only that, but with the amount of zombies that spawn nearby and what feels like lack of supplies, its also easier to get your character infected or killed.
I'm not really a fan of the whole system. You can't customize the character you select either. Just pick one of the three rng characters and thats it. I can't really talk about the skill system since I never managed to beat a single run to get my character leveled up.

As for the performance, the game isn't really that well optimized, unfortunately. People have encountered crashes and performance issues and I had mostly low frame rate issue. (Thanks UE).

The good things about the game is that melee is way better than the first game. Its kind of similar to Dying Light. Being able to push and kick zombies is also pretty nice. The open world atmosphere is pretty nice honestly. I like the map designs for exploration.

The game can be good if they remove the permadeath or at least make it some sort of "high risk, high reward" alternative game mode. And optimizing game performance would also obviously help. If they manage to fix that then it may be worth another shot.

The game was already in a rough shape with its poor optimization and questionable balance changes, now they decided to make the worst decision by implementing mandatory PSN. And heres the kicker - Baltics, Belarus, Balkans and many other countries won't be able to play the game since they dont have PSN available in their region. So if you're from any of those countries, you can kiss those 40 bucks goodbye
