Gets super slow real fast. Also having Season/Battle Passes for an idle clicker is ridiculous.

Early Access Review
UPDATE 14 March 2025:

Since my initial review many things have changed.
QoL improvements were made, to require less micro-management.
Difficulty got sliders in both directions.
Developers carry out surveys on Discord here and there, which is good.
Map balancing still remains an issue, but there are at least ways to produce things yourself.

All in all I'd recommend this game now as the direction it goes seems promising.

INITIAL REVIEW:

I like the concept of being able to play in every city in the world.
The current execution is subpar in my opinion.

When I get my hometown in rural Germany or even choosing Osaka, finding buildings with weapons and ammunition is.... not the best experience you can have as a player. Germans and Japanese are no gun nut police states, that means, the game won't generate that many weapon shops (if at all) or police stations.
Other cities, better experience.

I'm more the city builder type, so I'd prefer to have the option for a more relaxed experience.
Currently the game only throws more and more hordes of infected at you which makes things in certain places too hard.
Also throwing more and more is a bit lazy.... at some point infected people should be wiped out. With this, the game shouldn't be called "Infection free zone", but "Infection free apartment" or something the like.

Other than that: Too micro-management-y. To scavenge houses, you have to click every one of them with your squads, just to get measle or no returns at all.

Last but not least: Bugs. I've faced bugs like buildings not being built for several days and reloads (requiring a stop & build again) or everything halting, but somehow still affecting gameplay. Squads don't move, people and infected neither, but you hear gunshots everywhere.

So etwas wirkt sehr sympathisch! :-)

Currently I would *not* recommend Cities Skylines 2.
Abysmal performance with default settings. To change the settings, you have to navigate through the main menu with 3 FPS.

Traffic AI / Road tools are still bad. Roundabouts are useless, as people don't use them properly. Having a 3 lane roads, people still using one lane in the roundabout.
You can't change directions at larger intersections... something that Traffic Manager in C:S1 did much better.

Demands system is completely broken. People not needing healthcare bi*ching about bad healthcare even though I provide them healthcare. Same with police, no criminals but people bi*ching about crime and the city needs much more police.... no thanks.

Other than that, visual glitches, bad Anti Aliasing, bad shadows, bugs. Game should definitely have been delayed as it has too many issues right now.

Tons of glitches and bugs, Bethesda clearly hasn't learned anything since Skyrim.
The game is out for almost a month now and there still hasn't been a bigger update except those two tiny hotfixes.
Currently I wouldn't recommend it.
