The game itself is great, but it lacks good guidance.
There are a few tutorials in the beginning for the very basics, but that's it.
I have to keep looking stuff up on YouTube, Wikis or other websites to get the informations that I need.
It's extraordinary annoying and I really wish they implement a better tutorial/guidance throughout the game and not just the early phase of the game.

Remember when this game had a native linux version?
They dropped it.
It works with proton but EAC is preventing you from joining protected servers (even tho there is EAC for linux).

I recently decided to give Stellaris another chance after a break of 6 years. To my disappointment, I found that the game is still incredibly daunting for newcomers, despite having watched numerous tutorials on YouTube. The in-game tutorial, which could have been helpful, consistently crashed my game whenever it popped up, rendering it useless. The only solution I found was to revert to a previous version of the game, which is far from an ideal fix.

In addition to the tutorial issue, the game tends to crash randomly, especially when notification pop-ups appear. Even after saving and reloading the game, the same pop-up triggers crashes repeatedly. The only workaround I discovered was to disable pop-up notifications in the game settings. However, this poses a problem as I miss out on crucial information, which is particularly vital for beginners like myself.

Admittedly, I had to force myself to persist and delve deeper into the game. Surprisingly, as I learned more and experimented (mostly on very easy settings and by avoiding diplomacy through machine civilizations), the experience became more enjoyable. Nonetheless, I still faced defeats in four consecutive rounds, highlighting the game's steep learning curve.

It's worth noting that certain DLC's appear to be essential, as they introduce significant features and content to the game. I watched a DLC ranking on YouTube and decided to buy the "Synthetic Dawn Story" (for machine civilizations) and "Leviathans Story" expansions, in addition to owning the previously purchased "Utopia" expansion from six years ago.

In summary, I hesitate to provide a clear recommendation for Stellaris. The lack of an adequate tutorial and the persistent crashing issues make it difficult for new players to dive into the game seamlessly. Despite these challenges, once you manage to grasp its complexities, Stellaris does offer a rewarding and engaging experience.

TL;DR:
Hard to get into;
Lacking guidance;
Crashes quite often;
Thus no recommendation.

I cant' believe this game is free.
It's very enjoyable and I actually like it more than Vampire Survivors.
The fishing remembered me of Stardew Valley and decorating the house of Animal Crossing.
Overall 10/10!

I'm already addicted to this game.
It also runs smoothly and native on linux, which is a HUGE plus!
