Fun game, toxic as hell community even when playing in casual utterly ruins it. Play with friends or don't bother.

This game used to be good, it used to show promise. Back in the day where raiding wasn't as simple as grabbing a pickaxe and having some patience, back when there was a legitimate map where people would be fighting over strategic locations like the rad towns, back when you'd have to watch out for zombies as well as players.

All this replaced by a rather dull procedurally generated world full of thousands of abandoned structures and some wildlife that just ♥♥♥♥♥ about in circles like it has the pathing of a downs syndrome blindfolded penguin. It just all feels so empty and meaningless.

The removal of any meaningful PvE has led to a community that's so bored and empty with itself that the only thing to do for fun is terrorize people just joining the server. Killing nakeds on sight for and raiding even the smallest of bases that new players built to last the night. This all leads to a feeling that you can't leave the game for even a couple hours because someone can, and will, take all of your ♥♥♥♥ or just kill you and destroy everything you've built even if you don't have anything. This is why the landscape is always littered with thousands of empty buildings, Raiding is far too easy now and it’s the only thing you can really do aside from smacking trees or rocks .

This is literally, without exaggeration, the worst player community I have ever had the displeasure to come across (and this is coming from someone who's played League since beta). It’s always kill on sight regardless to whether or not they are fully armored with automatic rifles and you’re a freshly spawned player the killing will happen regardless. There are a few rare cases of actually meeting someone who doesnt kill you on sight but they are so few and far between and those kind of players quickly lose interest in the game leaving only the ♥♥♥♥ remaining.

The new building system is far better than the old one but this is far from enough to make the game worth it.

And lastly the performance terrible, even on my beasty system I can't play on max without severe lag and frame drops that can get down into the single digits when it's raining.

This isn't a rage review or me venting its... just me expressing my disappointment in a game that truly did show promise years ago and seeing what it's become and the community it's bred over the years saddens me. I would've recommended this game back in the time of big and small rad town as a game that showed promise but now all I see is a hollow husk of what it used to be and I just can't help but strongly recommend against it.

A very fun and interesting spin on the whole "Early Access Survival Game on Steam" Genre, and one of the few to show some good original ideas and the potential to go far. This game in it's current state I feel is still worth the asking price even in it's current state. Not to mention from what i've seen so far these devs seem to be reliable and devoted to their game, so I don't doubt that plenty more content is actually on its way! Which is honestly more than many developers in early access xD
