A gritty and realistic shooter that tackles the mental health aspect of the job.

Edit: Sony is defeated, Democracy has prevailed!!! However we still need the game to be relisted in non-PSN countries!

Amazing game and dev team, unfortunately Sony is requiring a PSN account moving forward. Many countries do not have access to PSN. Others may simply not want to connect to another service that hasn't been needed until now. Either way I would attempt to get a refund on a game that will become unplayable unless you sign up with a third party that was not disclosed beforehand.

If you've got a good GPU and a high refresh rate monitor, there is nothing else out there that can compare to this feeling of speed. The controls take a bit of learning in the beginning, but you'll be slapping analog sticks in every which way soon enough.

This game made me cry twice, and I don't know why.

I just don't know what it is about this game that makes me dislike it so much. It seems like it's a lot of little things. The tedious missions, the clunky movement, the environments, and the enemies that shoot laser weapons through walls.

I hope we get a proper Borderlands soon.

I shelled out for the Deluxe Editon expecting an amazing game changer in the Ace Combat series. However, I was a bit disappointed. If you're an Ace Combat fan and love everything as it was in AC5, AC0, and AC6, then you'll love this too.

I feel like Ace Combat 7 hasn't changed much since the PS2 games. If that's exactly what you want, then you wont be disappointed. However, it feels like I am playing a PS2 game with current-gen graphics. I was hoping for some interesting changes and a more engaging personal story, although it did get really good at the last quarter.

But instead we have the same HUD, same in-game menu (which I can't change my settings with), and same style of gameplay. Aircraft are very fast and the target lock-on ranges are very short, which makes it feel like you have to be right on top of a target to fire a missile, and aircraft guns are completely useless. There's very few maps and modes for the multiplayer, and it is not welcoming for newcomers.

That said, it is still a good game with a good story, and I look forward to the DLC stories. I am, however, much more excited for Project Wingman which seems to be more of what I thought this game would be like.

So I've played this for a while now and as someone who has 200+ hours on the original Insurgency game, I like this too. It takes some getting used to with the high recoil and new weapons, but the new loadout points/weight system seems a lot better.

The state of the game is very playable and acceptable, but some aspects of this game seems kind of like a Beta. Things such as object pop-in at the start of a game or the clunky menus seems unfinished. I also wish there was more maps and customization options, but I am sure that the team will add those in the future as free updates.

However, you can only get customization points from playing on official servers. I think this is unreasonable. You get 1 random customization item and 100 points for each level up. Maybe you get better items the higher level you are. But It seems like you have to grind for points on official servers for items you want, which prevents you from trying custom servers.

TL;DR
Good game. Seems a bit bare/unfinished, but I know they will fix things and add free content.

New Review: October 19, 2018
So I have just finished the main story now. My opinion is very mixed. I love the gameplay and mechanics, but the story was subpar and I didnt care for any of the characters. I loved playing on hard difficulty and having to manage wind and drop distance, even having to pick my favorite scopes so I could read the windages faster.

I loved exploring so much that I just stopped using the car to drive around. Most objectives were under 500m away, so I just ran there. I explored the mountains and forests, stubbled across wolves and deer. It was very Immersive. I liked collecting gear and scraping weapons from fallen enemies, but soon I had so many points that it made the entire crafting part of the game useless.

I completed every side quest I came across which were often puzzles or rescusing civilians which helped break up the gameplay. But these sometimes lead to some very dark aspects. It is a war game, and they do not censor the dark sides of it. But coming across a torture shack, gorey corpses, and mass graves really kept me from completing the game because it is depressing and I play games for fun.

Sniping feels good in this game, but some things held the game back. The bullet cam is pretty janky and not the best, but I disabled it as some moments can get intense and I need to react fast. The AI is kind of basic, but realistically, people wouldnt be moving around much if there was a sniper shooting at them though. Playing on hard difficulty makes up for the AI as you cant mess up or you will die very quickly. I had to come up with ways to coax them out of hiding and get a good shot on them.

It was also kind of odd that the enemies couldnt call for reincorcements. You could sometimes take out an enitre base from a good sniper position, and there wasnt much they could do about it, besides firing motars or taking potshots at you. They had armored vehicles with a turret but never used it except for scripted missions. Sometimes there were nearby enemy bases where reinforcements could have also run over to attack you, but they dont.

TL;DR
I really liked the game. It kept me on my toes and I loved moving from mission to mission. Sniping feels great. It is buggy or janky on some parts, but they were minor and didnt stop me from progressing or anything serious. I enjoyed the gameplay, but not the story. I look forward to CI' Games's next game in the Sniper series and hope they work out some of the issues.

The game is a bit buggy, but the open world, gunplay, and exploration more than makes up for it. I recommend you play on Hard difficulty.

Amazing must have program, if you don't mind wasting some ram usage. I just wish people would correctly tag their wallpapers so I can avoid the Anime and NSFW stuff.
