I'm only a Mewgenicist in training and haven't even earned my Associate's Degree in cat-astrophe, but it's already great.
Worth the wait, McMillen, worth the wait.

I went searching through the "psychological horror" tag and found this game.

I don't normally go in for a literal gambling game, but the roguelite elements convinced me to give it a try. It's been said elsewhere more eloquently but it's a a great satire against the inhumanity one suffers through when in the midst of a gambling addiction.

The gameplay is, unsurprisingly, addicting. I got my money's worth out of it shortly after earning my golden slot machine knob. It's a game that feels deliberately unpolished visually for the sake of tonal and thematic consistency.

Good game, don't play it for longer than a weekend or two. I don't think anyone at Panik Arcade wants the players to become addicted to the game that shows how ugly gambling addiction can feel. I managed Ascension and now feel completely content to let the game remain finished.

Great job, Panik Arcade. Great game, great message, great execution.

This game is absolutely wonderful. I couldn't recommend it much higher, it is my second favorite RPG. Only Oneshot stands above SLARPG in my heart.
The character writing is impressively relatable. There's a great depth to almost the entire cast and a lot of emotional depth to each arc that they go through. The game deeply enjoys more metanarrative humor but decidedly relies on a mostly wholesome series of well-made banter.
Everyone that worked on it did a great job: I was left wanting more at the perfect time for them to stop.

This game is getting its feet off the ground still but it is very fun and full of personality. I recommend it for people that like turn-based games or 90s/00s anime lovers. Akira Toriyama(Dragonball) and Rumiko Takashi(Ranma 1/2) were clear inspirations as well as countless other shows of the 90s. The developer team is great and I recommend their other game, Underhero, as well!

The game is largely going across maps, and getting into turn-based fights where you create anime-like named attacks. The cast of characters are generally lovable and various flavors of quirky.

But as an additional note, the developer Paper Castles have been very focused on bug fixes, and helping out anyone that had any issues with the early stages of the game's lifespan. After I lost 30 hours of gameplay, they quickly worked with me to resolve it. I cannot commend them highly enough.

TLDR: Inventory management is a problem. Wait for a decent discount and go into it with lowered expectations. It could have been better but circumstances likely prevented the developer from making it exactly what they wanted and they were unfortunately unable to stay open long enough to fix it.

This is a game where only 2% of players who own the game have completed the proper story. I played it through the story so I can count myself among that now. It can feel like a sophomoric game, with a repetitious and easily identified pattern. Collect the next area's rock, tree, fruit, and metal to upgrade to the next Bullet Level out of 20. If you don't, bullets do not damage the next area's enemies enough.

The hiring of CRCR and Wizz to render their trailer was a double edged sword. The game could hardly have looked better, but it also set the developer up for failure. Most people that you find in the negative opinion of this game agree that the style outshined the substance. It did wonders to get people to buy the game in bulk but that 2% story completed hangs over the game's head like an albatross. For all the good the team tried to live up to the trailer, they couldn't deliver. The fundamentals of item management were not adhered to well enough and people struggled to keep playing it.

But I will say this: Magus' final words for his world were raw and honest from the heart of the creators. That is earnest and I see it as such. Even if there's better games out there, THIS specific message near the end of the game is why I wish Galvanic could have stayed open for longer. Indie developers trying their heart out to make art is hard work, and they tried admirably.
