$70 Game with a $10 battlepass and now a store. They lied about map sizes and now have been shown to have lied about how they are going to keep skins grounded. If you are looking to try this out as a successor to bf4, look elsewhere. This game is fundamentally designed to be call of duty with tanks.
The story is also the worst story I have seen in a shooter, and is a waste of time to play.
If this game goes on sale during the holidays, it would have to be around $10 to make it even worth thinking about getting it as the price of the store items are egregious.

Horrible UI, logged in to play the open beta, got 5 different popups for warzone. Beta was what I feared with modern cod, sliding jumping everywhere, awkward replacement of the perk system with "vest gloves shoes", the old maps do not work with modem cod. The old maps like highrise still shine in how good their design is, but the guns feel sluggish and movement is too fast for the maps. The nostalgia baiting almost worked

So far in, I have only experienced one crash that required going back to menu to fix it. In these 5 hours I have felt similar to when I played dark souls 1/2 for the first time. learning to traverse this world and learning hidden enemies hiding. The combat is great with stance switching and the attempts to balance parry, dodge and block. I am excited to play the rest of the game!

Early Access Review
Scholar of the Arcane Arts is a game based around combining spells as you cast them to get more powerful and different effects. There are so many unique spells and combos that half the fun is just finding new ones.

The rougelike mode is quite challenging, but creating a spell list that combos to beat the dungeon is equivalent to building a deck and getting the perfect set up to win a game.

If you’re a fan of having as many spells as possible and crafting responses and set ups in games you play, then you might like this game.

Early Access Review
Project MIKHAIL is a RPG with focus on story, combat, and customization of playstyle. Set in the Muv Luv universe, you play through a main story line and make decisions that alter the past and future, it is my recommendation that you either have played Alternative the visual Novel or seen the anime, to help understand the story more and to get more out of the decisions you can make.

MIKHAIL launched to mixed reviews due to UI and gameplay issues.
So far during the past couple weeks of early access the UI has been vastly improved and playing the game with a controller vs mouse and keyboard makes a huge difference. And the devs have promised and actively been looking for feedback and implementing it, this is not an early access game that is going to end up abandoned or released as it is.

Outside of the story mode there is a PvE online mode where collective community decisions will change the story, and a PvP mode where TSF (the mechs you pilot) fight off.

The gameplay had some noticeable issues like forcing target locks and at times feeling like you have to just spam attack. However, the ability to customize your play style is massive from focusing on using guns, swords, and knives, to any combination of those. You define how you take on combat. There is a surprising amount of depth to the combat in spite of the lock-on and attack spam. Having skills, parries, dodge counters, secondary weapons, enemy weak points, hovering/flight all create a gameplay loop that feels fitting to the world and provides skill expression. There should be a lot more praise for the time and detail spent in these systems. The way you change play style to fight each type of BETA shows the love that was put forth in making the game.

My only complaints as of now are the lack of full screen support / proper resolution scaling and optimization. But given time I’m sure these will be addressed.
I sadly waited to review the game as I needed to spend more time to give a proper review. And this game deserves a much higher rating, than the initial rash judgements gave it.

If you enjoy gundam / mecha / giant robots, and always wanted to pilot one in a semi realistic setting. I would recommend you try out this game. If you are looking for a game you can spend time on and be rewarded for that time through gaining skill and rewards, this will fulfill that.

Muv Luv as a franchise is niche, but it is one of the highest rated with the most dedicated fans, and here’s to hoping that you join this community!
