I'll be honest I'm only one run in at the time of writing but can already say confidently this is the best Vampire Survivors-like game and definitely has potential to exceed the benchmark VS has set in the genre.

The Path Of Exile inspiration really shines through and the mechanics really mesh great with the game, it's awesome to have so much more depth when it comes to your actives/passives and even upgrades. There's already much more depth to character building than VS has, time shall tell if it has the replayability as well.

TL;DR It's like PoE's Ritual League and Vampire Survivors had a baby and it's beautiful.

Solid early access foundation, a bit buggy occasionally but Marauders has huge potential.

Path of Exile was once a brilliant game, however it seems it was a game the developers produced entirely on accident.

For the last year and a half updates have focused entirely on winding back how enjoyable PoE had become in favour of GGG’s initial vision of creating an oppressive hardcore ARPG successor to Diablo 2, what they happened to create along the way was so much better.

Entire golden ages of item crafting and build diversity have been decimated to the point that itemisation has become nothing more than a slot machine, oppressive monsters from POE’s objectively least popular league in recent history “Archnemesis” have been shoehorned into every aspect of the game with little consideration for balance. Loot drops have been recently reduced by up to 80% in some cases without being documented in patch notes and much loved game mechanics have slowly been eroded away due to being too deterministic. Blanket nerfs designed to target the top ends of player power completely failed and effected everyone, making great builds ‘good’ but ‘good’ builds unviable in the endgame.

The worst part is while Path of Exile does have quite a flourishing trading economy it is still at its core a single player game, despite this it is impossible to turn back time, roll back to a different version and play the Path Of Exile that I and many others fell in love with. It’s gone and we may never see anything like it ever again.

For additional context, I have well over my steam hours in this game as I switched to the standalone client years ago. I’d estimate well over 10k

I also have thousands of dollars in supporter packs, I was once GGG’s most devout supporters. Not anymore.
