I have no experience in previous Monster Hunter games except for the Xbox port for MHW. Having said that, I can firmly confirm that I prefer this port better than the console. I have read that there have been reports of connection issues, crashes, and file corruption, but I have yet to encounter any of these issues in my copy of the game. Pratically butter smooth on High graphics as well. But having read those warnings, I have read up and researched a reddit fix that tells you that you can indeed backup your saves via game files (note I have yet to test this out since I never ran into any issues thus far and yes I have completed the main storyline):

I love this game in both ports: kinda wished I could port my xbox save, but I'm asking for too much, and plus playing this game w/o having to wait 5 hours for the level to load is so much better.
The controls were weird for me at first (from controller to mouse and keyboard), but I picked up fairly quick (Lance/GLance user)
Its a shame that these issues are occuring to other users though, this game deserves to be recognized as a very good one, hopefully these issues will be solved in the future.
Looking to update this review later down the line if I encounter any issues.
