Spent 10 minutes trying to get Ubisoft's launcher to actually let me play the game I paid for, uninstalled and refunded. Terrible customer experience, I understand why this company is going bankrupt.

Default keyboard bindings are unplayable and the gameplay is bad enough to not bother fixing it.

So bad I had to write a review. Sectors are broken, ship AI is broken, AI diplomacy is broken. Late game has little to no game play other than building fleets and lagging through battles. Whole sections of tech are literally worthless; defensive structures are paper thin and completely not worth building for example. All in all it's terribly balanced with terrible mechanics and just... it's just terrible.


November 2018 EDIT: After the countless updates, the game is finally in a state worth recommending. Launch was a disaster, but they've really managed to create an actual game here. Many of the infuriating features have been reviewed or patched, and overall the game feels complete enough to be worth recommending.

Paying for mods is worse than paying for sex.

How do people like this? Character movement is choppy, menu is awful, the combat is overly complex without actually contributing anything I wouldnt be able to get with a simpler system. Tutorial is woefully inadequate, terrible lip sincing, buggy as hell.... How is this rated so high?
