Contender for the best RPG maker game ever made, and might just be the best cosmic horror game in video game history. Tonally focused in its humor and horror and being completely its own in being grounded in the day-to-day 'realism' in how one would navigate this kind of ordeal.

Cannot stress enough how well worth the price is to play and support something this special.

At times reaches the heights of Disco Elysium and Planescape Torment. Very well written and on the level of the best cyberpunk literature and cinema.

Cronenberg levels of horror with a hint of Carpenter's Apocalypse trilogy. A modern-day horror masterpiece.

3rd Playthrough currently with mods added and still has the greatest sound design and integration of sound in gameplay to this day. This is one of the few games I'll always leave installed and either play through a mission again for variety or a fan mission. Make sure to use the patch for it to run properly and also to get the best experience. Downside it doesn't log onto your steam (or just too lazy to figure it out) but easily have spent a couple dozen hours on this game. It's one of the few games I'll point to for anyone searching for a unique and unforgettable experience in a game.

Hard to recommend as well as not recommend altogether. Kinda sucks as a Thief sequel given how shockingly condensed all the levels are compared to the previous titles that were sprawling and never saw a load screen in-game. There are some nice art design choices despite the environments tending to look outright the same. Moving Garett tho is where the game suffers as well as its buggy physics that are neither complimented for first or third person despite having the option to choose either/or. The story... kinda don't care for and also not cohesive to the character overall.

Worth checking out if you like Thief or if you're curious. It does need patching since the game as is will not run on modern OS (as usual with steam). Jumping in without playing I and II will have you lost since this was Eidos' attempt at the time to revamp the series to a new audience despite the lack of backstory. Wish it ended up being better and the last entry... we don't talk about that.

Nothing quite like this unique yet highly flawed immersive sim. This game was hyped by its cult following and lived up to all expectations. Could have been an amazing masterpiece yet still holds as one of the most memorable stories and atmospheric experiences in gaming. Definitely plan to play through again since it has tremendous replay value in playing as different factions. Worth checking out and getting sucked-in to its brooding world.

A sequel with refined gameplay and interesting lore/art direction that falls short of reaching what could be a great game. The story came across as an add-on or DLC than actual continuation and the diary entries (while enjoyable to read) at times presented more of an artificial expansion than the clever environmental storytelling of Thief I and II. Still, despite shortcomings, do recommend it. Played through stealth.

A perfect example of video games as interactive art - from its unmatched sound design, atmosphere, and immersive story that is told successfully from the player's intervention and interactions rather than only being a compilation of cut scenes. This game does not hold your hand and respects the player's intelligence by allowing them to figure out clues or ascertain the game's levels and deduce what is the best approach to finish objectives. It's liberating and a few games capture this kind of lightning in a bottle. Honestly a masterpiece that obviously influenced the likes of Bioshock, Prey 2017, Dishonored, Death Loop, etc. Definitely worth at least a playthrough.

Phenomenal writing with a bleak and somber tone in a world that vaguely resembles something that's familiar yet chaotic and foreign at the same time - where vices, hedonism, and bankrupt morality is easy to succumb to. It's still compelling to this day and has one of the richest stories I've experienced in any medium in addition to an introspective theme of what we fear most: are we incapable of change, or doomed to stagnation in who we are?

For a long while, I've been so jaded with FPS games. They generally feel the same and have little stakes that are compelling, original, or even characters worth giving a damn. After playing the reboot of Prey, it gave me hope and reminded me that FPS can still be interesting - this was a breath of fresh air.

Having had Prey 2017 on my radar for years, I decided to finally purchase it for 7 bucks since I kept hearing how it keeps the spirit of immersive sims alive, and honestly it lives up perfectly to all expectation. This game is the perfect immersive sim and really shocked it didn't get nearly as much acclaim as it did - no stripped and watered down mechanics ala Bioshock, but 100 percent immersive sim, and I love it. I don't use this word flippantly, but it really is a masterpiece and stands alongside System Shock 2 as proper sequel.

I'm playing through with the 'survival' option with weapon degradation, status effects, etc. and while some were warning of new comers to play it vanilla, I cannot imagine playing any other way. This is exactly as it should be played and makes going into situations more calculating rather than simply parade through a cluster of enemies and shoot wildly. The strategy involved in this game and numerous options in tackling a situation make it incredibly addicting. Games like SS2, Deus Ex, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. are reminders of why games are a compelling art form and closer to an interactive installation and film than film or a novel can achieve to be. It's a breath of fresh air among the saturating COD games and lazily implemented RPG elements in FPS these days that playing this is a breather that is so sorely needed in games today.
