Why is the lighting so grainy? Otherwise it is a well made vr game.

I don’t understand why people say the graphics look bad. This was one of the most artistic VR games I’ve ever seen. Sure, it doesn’t look like Half Life Alyx but which game does? This was a Quest 3 first game. They knew their limitations and tried to mask it with a really good art style, just like back in the day when PC games were optimised.

I like the story. The atmosphere and acting were great. They reused some maps and assets throughout the story, but it didn’t feel cheap. I really like how the mask looks. The water droplets looked so good, and it even fogs up when the main character gets excited. I left it on all the time. The spider mechanics were really creative and well made.

The controls are a bit janky. I felt so restricted when playing. They were clearly inspired by Half-Life: Alyx, but it feels like they only borrowed the weaker parts of Alyx’s control design. I don’t like how some interactions are bound to specific hands, like holding bags only with the left hand. I wanted to rack the AK-47 with my right hand because that feels most natural to me, and it makes it easier to check if a round is chambered. But as soon as I let go my right hand, the gun snaps into a very uncomfortable angle, and I have to bend my wrist too far just to see the other side of the gun. Also, I don’t understand why it grabs the charging handle automatically, I keep wasting bullets by accident. If they wanted to add a mechanic for racking it without grabbing, it should have been physics-based because the grab area is huge.

For the first half of the game, during emergencies, I was constantly greeted with a pistol that has no magazine. Because you can yank the magazine out without pressing the release, and when I hold my gun with both hands I naturally hold my grip buttons. So whenever I put my gun down, I frequently removed the magazine without noticing.
There also weren’t enough sections to actually use all my bullets. I kept hearing, “I can’t grab any more magazines,” so I rarely bothered with stealth.

You read all my rant about the controls, but despite all my issues, I’m still incredibly immersed in this game. It’s one of the few that truly achieved that for me.

It was really cool to be in the Metro universe.

Base game was running effortlessly at 60 fps with a plenty of headroom, why is this game so CPU heavy now. Bought the DLC at launch but didn't touch it since. It hardly ever stays at 40 fps, and frame times are all over the place. Its a stutter fest, I much prefer playing Monster Hunter Wilds at 25 fps than playing this game at 40 fps, it is much smoother.
