if you like bethesda games, go for it. be warned that it is incredibly buggy and prone to crashing but you should know this already since its a bethesda game.

Starfield is the same old Bethesda formula and I feel like after the fifth or sixth time, I'm just over it. So after soldiering through for many hours and finishing a good portion of the game, including the main quest, I still can't recommend this game. The performance is absolutely ghastly, the game will often jump to 100% GPU utilization and yet the framerate will tank to sub-30 FPS. Restarting the game is the only way I've found to fix it. Freezes requiring the forced closure of the game are frequent. If you go anywhere with a significant amount of NPCs, prepare for even more frame dips and drops. Looking down your weapons scope causes a momentary stutter every time you zoom out.

Game play side of things, outposts, which are basically the same thing as the settlement building in Fallout 4 is completely pointless. There is literally no good reason to engage in it. The majority of the "1000" planets in the game are barren wastelands with almost nothing to do on them. They are not large contiguous maps either. Whenever you land on an area of a planet, it randomizes a map section with one or two POIs that are one to two thousand kilometres away. If you want to explore these areas, you have to walk or run and it can take a good 10 minutes or more to reach them. Just mindlessly running.

This is the first Bethesda game to feature a new game plus feature and it is tied into the main quest story but it is absolutely pointless. The only thing that carries over is your level and perks. You lose absolutely everything else. In short, this is launch No Man's Sky but so much worse.
