It works on the Steam Deck with older Proton versions. Do note that this game is just a re-release of the original game with all the patches to Steam, so some things we'd expect of more modern titles won't be in here (like widescreen support). That being said, if you're an RTS fan and have never tried this game out, give it a shot.

Completed the trilogy for the first time via this remaster. Great experience, story, characters and universe; runs smoothly (for the most part) too. Wish they carried over the ME3 Multiplayer though.

Fun game, great artstyle, quite a lot of unlockables, extremely easy to run, but can be *VERY* difficult and challenging most of the times.

Finished the campaign on Heroic, and now trying to complete all the collectibles (almost done).

Don't have strong opinions on the story, but there were a few standout moments, and I like how they've made a nice balance of old Bungie Chief with the characterization that the expanded lore gave him (Other main characters and villains are fine, I suppose). Quotes and banter between AI is pretty great though.

Overall gameplay loop is great as the new equipment system was nicely implemented throughout the entire campaign (Grappleshot is by far the standout one), though the semi-open world map doesn't have much in terms of stuff to do compared to other games of this type. Also, the main campaign only has two types of environments, namely green hillsides/forests/mountains and ancient alien structures, but I didn't mind it as much as others, and I felt that it kind of makes sense with the way they structured the game as being a semi-open world game. Bosses can be tough a lot of the times, but proper use of your environment, tools and weapons generally can make them easier to deal with.

Performance on PC needs quite a bit of work, but adjustment of settings such as the built-in Dynamic Resolution Scaler and Sharpness filter helps alleviate that to a degree when tweaked properly.

Co-op mode needs to be released ASAP as IMO this game feels like it was made for it, alongside more story expansions and PvE content.

Multiplayer is fun to play, but the systems surrounding it need improvement (mainly Battle Pass, Progression and Monetisation). Also needs the MCC's mode selector back and/or expanding the playlists (not fun playing objective modes when some are busy playing TDM), alongside more maps (even some remastered ones) and game modes in general. Academy is a nice feature for getting new players adjusted to the system, and the bots are pretty okay too. PC Performance needs some work, but the settings provided are pretty extensive.

ALSO, TURN OFF HD TEXTURES UNDER "DLC" IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THE GAME IN A STABLE MANNER.

Brace yourself, this is gonna be a long one as I talk about each game in the collection!

-- Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary --
+ The vehicles still handle very well and are a joy to use, especially the classic Warthog jeep.
+ The enemies are no pushovers and can easily kill you if you're not careful.
+ The weapons are fun to use and have a role to play in the sandbox,
+ The story is still fine for the most part, but it does quickly pull you into it as you continue to explore Halo.
+ Amazing soundtrack.
+ One-button graphics switch between classic and Anniversary is very good and seamless.
+ In-game access to lore (Terminals) in new graphics are a good addition.
+/- The earlier levels are very fun to play, but the later ones tend to feel very long and dragged out.
- Co-op is limited to just two players.
- New graphics, while technically are nice, tend to change the artstyle and atmosphere quite a bit in certain areas.

-- Halo 2: Anniversary --
+ A much better and more faithful Remaster than CEA, while also retaining the graphics switch feature
+ Beautifully-redone CGI cutscenes by Blur Studios.
+ Alongside continuing Chief’s story, you also get to play as the Arbiter on the Covenant side.
+ Story is pretty good too.
+ Vehicles take actual damage over time now, which is pretty neat (and can even allow you to get to some cheeky spots).
+ More new weapons, especially on the Covenant side (including the Energy Sword).
+ Boarding/Hijack, Dual-wield and Weapon Trading are all great additions to gameplay.
+ Music is still a banger, and now with more rock guitars!
+ The new Terminals in Anniversary graphics tell a much more engaging overall story than the ones in CEA.
+ More variety in your allies (female marines, shock troops, allied Grunts and Elites)
- Some weapons don’t return (Assault Rifle) while others get massively nerfed (Shotgun and Pistol).
- No health indicator like in CE, and you can die more easily too.
- Minimalist HUD doesn’t look as good as CE.
- New enemies aren’t exactly the most fun to fight against (enraged Brutes, Drones and Sniper Jackals).
- Covenant levels aren’t as fun to play as the Human levels.
- Boss fights don’t work that well in this game.
- Still only has 2-player co-op, and has noticeable input lag.

-- Halo 3 --
+ 4-player co-op is finally here, and everyone gets to use a different character.
+ Great level design, with more open levels, vehicle usage and large-scale battles.
+ Brutes are more fun to fight than in Halo 2.
+ More weapons to play in addition to returning ones, and turrets can be detached now!
+ Equipment pickups add more variety to gameplay.
+ On-the-fly Flood conversion is a neat feature and can quickly shift the tone of a fight.
+ Game still looks nice for a 2007 game due to artstyle and lighting work.
+ New HUD looks better than Halo 2.
+ Player character feels more durable than in Halo 2.
+ Theatre mode for Campaign is a great way to capture epic scenes from missions.
+ Probably has the best overall soundtrack in the franchise.
+/- A fitting end to the OG Halo trilogy, but the story feels like it was a bit rushed near the end.
+/- Lore Terminals can be a bit hard to understand/decipher for first-timers
- Arbiter’s role is GREATLY reduced compared to Halo 2.
- Low-polygon models for the heads of most human NPCs can be pretty jarring when compared to the great models they used for Chief, the ODSTs and the aliens.

-- Halo 3: ODST --
+ Semi-open world with various enemy patrols roaming the streets make for fun and unexpected engagements.
+ The new Suppressed SMG and Pistol are very fun to use, and can hold their own pretty well.
+ The Covenant feel terrifying again as you have limited resources and aren’t as durable as Chief or the Elites, alongside the game being very dark most of the times.
+ The tools you get as an ODST are great, and help tremendously in navigating the area.
+ The upgraded Halo 3 engine is a sight to behold.
+ The sidestory gives great insight into the civilian perspective, and the scavenger hunt around the city to find them feels fun and rewarding.
+ Firefight Arcade is wacky and fun, while Firefight Classic challenging and fun.
+ The music really helps to set the tone and atmosphere of the game, and is great in general.
+ Environmental design helped to sell the idea that the city was very quickly abandoned by its inhabitants.
+/- You play as a regular human, but you mostly just feel like a slightly underpowered Spartan instead.
+/- Story itself is pretty okay, but wish it was a tad bit longer. Also, some characters get more screentime than others.
- Engineer shields, which they can also give a buffed-up version to other enemies.
- Game can be a bit too dark at times in certain areas, making VISR mode almost obligatory during the night-time sections.

-- Halo: Reach --
+ The lived-in and weathered look on things is fantastic!
+ Graphics still look pretty good.
+ Covenant talk in alien languages again and are more ferocious than ever.
+ Create-a-Spartan for Campaign, Firefight and Multiplayer is a big plus!
+ Has a lot of really fun and unique scenarios throughout the campaign.
+ Sombre tone throughout the game, helped further by the opening, music and level design.
+ Integration of expanded universe lore elements.
+ Firefight customisation and new gamemodes for it are a welcome addition.
+ Health packs are back but you also get slight health regen up to certain percentages.
+ New vehicles are very fun to use, especially the Revenant.
+ Mixing of Halo CE and 3's HUDs came out very nicely.
+ Soundtrack is good.
+/- New weapons range from great (DMR) to just okay (Plasma Repeater).
+/- Story is just fine in my opinion.
+/- Having other Spartans around in missions is great, their AI can be off at times and you can’t switch weapons with them.
+/- While the armour abilities are nice, some get way more use than others (Sprint).
+/- Game gets a lot harder in the later sections, around “Long Night of Solace”.
- Lore conflicts with extended universe can make certain events not line up that well.
- Some lore terminals are locked behind Legendary difficulty.
- Saturation of high-level enemies such as white and gold Elites throughout levels.

-- Halo 4 –
+ The story overall, as Chief gets to be more of a character this time around.
+ Graphics look really nice for a port of a 2012 game.
+ Overall soundtrack is okay, but some tracks stand out more than others (especially 117).
+ Returning weapons feel really good to use due to damage model, animations and sound design.
+ The Mantis.
+ More lore access such as terminals scattered throughout the levels.
+/- Everything has an animation now.
+/- Spartan Ops campaign is a decent addition and you get to play with your custom Spartan, but it doesn’t feel as engaging at times.
+/- Levels generally feel fine in terms of lengthbut can feel very tedious at times due to enemy placement and general environment design.
+/- New weapons are a mixed bag, but the Scattershot, Railgun, Sticky Detonator and Incinerator Cannon are fun to use.
+/- Some returning vehicles handle differently than they used to, like the Banshee bomb.
+/- The new artstyle is divisive to say the least.
+/- Chief talks during gameplay now, take that as you will.
- Terrible ammo economy , as just about everything has a lower ammo pool while enemies receive more health.
- Prometheans aren’t fun to fight, especially the scummy flying Watchers and tanky, teleporting Knights with heavy weapons and one-hit melee.
- Bloom overdose in some areas.

- 3 huge story campaigns for free (quality varies)

- Multiplayer can be hell
A nice game to play if you need a break from playing Warframe for years.

Very enjoyable game to play or even just roam around and stumble upon adventures, but some systems are clunky (can be fixed by mods though).
