Great experience, overall great game with some pretty cool elements to it.
I really like the feature of the watch and how you need to keep up the different nutrition levels.
I found it dificult to navigate around the different maps at first, but as soon as I figured it out, it made sense.
The game is great, the story is fine, but I really do find the game being a little too short and the cutscenes were too long.

I'd like to see a little more being added to the game.
New spots, new gear, more plants and animals.
A think I really didn't like was the lack of information you had on the different plants you'd find.
You should be able to find notes on what everything is and what it does if you don't try it out first.

Otherwise, great and difficult survival game.

Torchlight III fully detailed review
SPOILERS MAY ACCOUR - Updated with bug fixes and patches (15 of April 2021)

This review is based on my knowledge from both Torchlight 1 and 2.
I’ve completed both games with 100% of the achievements and with 44.7 in game hours from TL1 and 153.9 hours from TL2.
I will mainly compared TL3 to TL2 since it’s the most complete game and my favorite so far.
!!! EVERYTHING CAN CHANGE IN THE GAME !!!
This is just my opinions and view on the game from early access to the date of this post.

Conclusion (Keep in mind, this is my opinion):
This game is without doubt pretty good, but it really does feel empty and repetitive. I know it’s a dungeon crawler, but why not go do something completely different and think outside the box a little?
It’s a solid game experience, but I would recommend you play online with your friends as you’ll get more out of the game.
Player single player gets a little boring with time and having some social moments will for sure lighten it up.
You can’t play single player characters in multiplayer and vice versa, so have some single player characters to test things out and then go for multiplayer with your main characters.
The game is not yet complete, it still updates and their Discord is filled with devs and helpful players who can guide you on the game and updates.
It's pretty similar to TL2, TL3 is just not there… Yet.

As the player base grows, guides and help on the WiKi will expand and things will be clearer to new players.

XP System:
The XP system is a little confusing. It scales in a weird way.
The amount you need for leveling up depends on your level like any other game, but as you level up, you still need the same amount of XP for some time.

Potions:
Potions are interesting in some ways and then not at all.
In TL2, your potions scaled with you. You also had mana potions and other potions that did everything from boosting you to instantly kill you.
I like that the potions have an effect when you use them instead of just healing you, nice touch.

Items:
There are a lot of cool items in the game with unique passives just like any other game.
The items also have cool looks and you can even customize your weapons and armor.
A thing that makes me sad is that all prices are fixed in the shop and the legendary weapons you’ll find throughout the game is worth no more than 100 gold coins and doesn't scale with enchantments or alike.
In TL2 and similar games, the legendary and enchanted items are worth a lot more and this seems to be left out.

Bossing:
Bossing was something I looked forward to a lot in TL3.
I really liked the bosses from TL2, but in TL3 it’s a little different story…
I did enjoy the longer boss fights, but with that said, it feels like they just gave the bosses more health points so it would take you longer to kill them.
I wouldn’t mind if that meant that the bosses had different stages and different abilities throughout the fight, but only a small handful has that and some only does one or two things.
I would love to see the bosses be more hardcore and have different stuff that would make the fights harder and more unpredictable.
So far I also found that the Act 2 boss is WAY easier than the Act 1 boss.
The Act 3 boss is not only a familiar one, it’s also a more interesting and aggressive version.

Creeps/Mobs:
The thing I really like is that many enemies are similar if not the same in TL3 as in TL2, but I only enjoyed that upon encounter.
After thinking about it a little more, it just felt like they reused the old enemies as they struggled to come up with new ideas.
I do like how the different enemies fit their environments, but I would have loved to see a little more variation and a lot of new enemies so you’d encounter the same enemy less often, but kept founding new enemies.

Trading:
Trading is non-existing in multiplayer.
I played a fair amount with a good friend of mine and several times we came across some nice loot that would fit the other player better than ourselves, but we just couldn’t trade it. The trading feature is simply not there.
Maybe some sort of an auction house where all players could sell/buy and trade weapons and gear would be a cool thing.

Enchantments:
So for some reason enchanting is an end game feature which I'm not a fan of.
I really like the idea of combining and figuring out the best options early on so you don’t waste money on expensive gear, but yet again, the enchantments are not necessary in early game as you’ll do just fine.
However, the entire enchantment concept is all about breaking down items into essence and then spending that on recipes you'll find throughout the game, so don’t expect your favorite items to be enchanted right away.

Fort:
The Fort is a nice little feature, but honestly nothing too special.
You had no such thing in TL2 and you did not need to.
It’s pretty cool to have a place you can show off to your friends.
You can fully customize it and do as you please, but only a few things actually serves a purpose for you character.
I’m sure there will be much more to it in the future, but as of now, not that interesting.

Skills:
There are a lot of cool and unique abilities for each character, but compared to similar games, it’s barely anything.
You have your different relic powers which are pretty cool, but in similar games, you can combine skills and abilities and do as you please, but in TL3 and TL in general it’s more fixed and you have to be creative with what you have.
The limited choices the players have are a little sad, but you’ll quickly figure out what works the best for your play style.

Pets:
Pets haven’t really had a change and I don’t think it needs that.
In TL2 you could go fishing and give your pets a buff, but in TL3 you can’t do that and there’s no fishing.
When fighting bosses, there are often pet cages you can open after the fight to receive a pet with a unique passive.
In TL2, you also had 3 different modes you could set your pet to.
Passive, neutral and aggressive, in TL3, there’s nothing.

Quests:
Quests seems the same to me, a little killing here and a little gathering there, nothing too major, but I do think it would be more interesting with some special quests or tasks like ā€œRobot Partsā€ in TL2.

The end game:
So I must admit that I liked the end game in TL2, different maps at the Clockwork Core, but yet again it got pretty repetitive.
In the TL3 there’s a little different spin on it.
You meet your good old friend, Dun’djinn.
Although I like how this puts up different challenges and puts a new perspective to the game, it seems like the only purpose is now to grind your way to level up and enchant stuff.
