Wish they would remaster this old classic instead of making that new allies garbage, i know this isnt your typical RTS like age of empires or something but it had its own unique playstyle and made it fun to play, maybe the combat system could have been worked on but playing this game was a major part of my childhood, i still have it on a disk, too bad the disk is scratched to heck and i dont have a disk drive anymore

I played just literally just a few minutes, it has some nice new weapons, not much, and they arent designed to be balanced, like the engies new wrench is nice giving a sentry more dmg, its downside it swings slower, jsut build it with a jag then swap to the new wrench, the mini dispenser is also nice but it takes forever to build.

My main problem is the game crashed when i tried adding bots, this mod still has ALOT of work to be done on it, i woulnt even call its a beta, maybe an alpha at this point, i can see what they want to do, but i woulnt really call it better fortress, when you play it it feels like joining a community server that has some whacky new stuff but only really worth checking out once or twice before your over it, menu is bit bugged, when you look at your loadout you cant see the names of the items, and i think some maps are removed? or least their nav files for the bots are, couldnt find them.

Will most likely check back in like 2 years if it progressed at all, but rn its bout 20 minutes of gameplay or till you crash

Bought this when it came out, i use to play the original all the time, this version is so much better in many ways, expect for the lame voice acting, i 100% reccomend you to get this, it has so much QOL stuff over the other and is really just better while still feeling like the original

Grand Fantasia Origin Review: A Disappointing Rehash
As a long-time fan of the Grand Fantasia series, I was excited when I heard about the release of Grand Fantasia Origin. I expected a fresh experience, something that would reignite the magic of the original game with new twists and innovations. Unfortunately, my excitement quickly faded as I realized that this new release falls short in almost every aspect.

A Recycled Experience
Right off the bat, it became clear that little has changed in terms of gameplay. While I hoped for new features or a revamped system that would bring something fresh to the table, Grand Fantasia Origin feels more like a rehashed version of the original. The nostalgic elements are there, but they’re not enough to mask the fact that the game hasn’t evolved in a meaningful way.

Pay-to-Win Woes
One of the most glaring issues with Grand Fantasia Origin is its increased reliance on a pay-to-win model. While this was always a part of the game to some extent, it has now reached a point where free-to-play players are at a severe disadvantage. Those who can afford to spend real money can easily purchase the best armor and gear, leaving everyone else in the dust. This creates an unfair playing field that drains the fun out of the game for those who aren’t willing or able to shell out cash.

Even the pay-to-win items themselves are ridiculously overpriced. Having to spend almost $25 just to get level 31 legacy armor is absurd, especially considering that this is just one of the many items that players need to stay competitive.

Increased Difficulty and Unfair Restrictions
The difficulty level has also been cranked up, but not in a way that feels rewarding. Instead, it seems designed to push players towards spending more money. Making money in-game has become significantly harder, especially since the removal of mission orders—a feature that many players relied on. On top of that, the addition of very small limits on dungeons feels like a deliberate attempt to slow down progress unless you’re willing to pay.

Final Verdict
In conclusion, Grand Fantasia Origin is a disappointing rehash of the original game that fails to capture the spirit that made the series enjoyable in the first place. The increased difficulty, removal of key features, and a blatant pay-to-win model make it nearly impossible for free-to-play players to have a fair and enjoyable experience. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this game to anyone, especially not to those who remember the original with fondness. Save your time—and your money.
