It's more embarrassing letting your friends see you play this than it is your adult game collection

Unless you want to potentially spend a lot of time trying to get this to work I currently can't actually recommend it. Before moving forward I'd like to mention this isn't an isolated case. Check the community hub, forums, Reddit etc and will see many face these issues of getting it to launch.

So, I spent almost two hours trying to get this game to launch via various methods across the internet, slowly making it to a different loading screen giving a sliver of hope each time before it decided to quit. Finally after that time I got in however made mistake of closing game to do something leading into another amount of time trying to get it to launch yet again.

I haven't been able to experience the graphics of the game because if I change the settings it wants to restart and honestly don't want to deal with that mess of trying to get it running yet again.

So far only seems to work when it wants to and in the over 2 hours documented playtime I only got to play about 10 minutes.

Until this is fixed I cannot recommend it, and seems they aren't interested in doing so despite the fact many people complaining about this issue.

If you got it to work straight away that's great for you, however doesn't shadow the fact it doesn't for many and that's a risk being taken when purchasing.

TL;DR
Pretty interesting game, good for those who know the Naught series as well. Rotate the world to move your character, collect diamonds, avoid obstacles and make it to the end of the level.

Full Review
The game I found intriguing as I have always enjoyed these styles of games. Think Puddle in a sense where you tilt the world to move except you can completely rotate the world in this one. It has the darker colour scheme with some of the enemies and objects adding the only colour into the world which works out great.

You can either rush the levels or try and complete them while collecting all the diamonds on the level, which isn't always as easy as it sounds. Collecting all diamonds unlocks a few bonus levels and time trials to do.

As I already mentioned you tilt the wold to move, you also can jump and mastering jumping and tilting at the same time is definitely something you want to do to reach some of the harder diamond locations. There is enemies that must be avoided and dangerous environments to be careful of. There is also swimming in some maps as well and some boss battles.

One thing I really like was the parts where you have to become the orb and make it through the winding passes clearing debris to allow Naught to continue on through the level.

The game play was smooth and did not experience any crashes (Windows 10 64 bit for those who wonder). Controls can be rebinded.

At the time of me writing this my game play has not included unlocking all bonus levels, completing a bunch of time trials nor collecting all diamonds, but I will get to finishing all that.

If I missed anything I'll be glad to update my review to reflect that.

Well, I hate to be the first one to say not recommended but will explain my reason and I will update it as the game gets updated. Price point is not a factor for my reviews so should mention that as well since many will look at the fact currently it is quite cheap.

TL;DR Version
If even a tad more of the story was included at launch or at least one interesting mission included at the beginning I may of swayed to the recommended side. Once more story is in then I may change my review to that.

Longer Version

I do like the concept of the game and the terrain looks great but that is where it currently stops for me until more is added. I beat the game in 26 minutes and this includes doing the story, exploring, and throwing some random boxes around for fun.

You play as the "dog" which you can move, boost, jump, and grab objects although it looks rather plain in my opinion. You start off with being told a bit of the backstory of what is going on, I then was instructed to proceed outside to the next objective. At this objective I was instructed to find 3 boxes and move them to the skylift. After I completed that task I was told to go to the mine, an unforunate accident occurs there and that is the end of the game...currently.

This game will be story driven which is why at the moment I cannot recommend it, there just wasn't enough of the interesting bits added in for the launch which I wish I could of seen. Anything other than moving boxes could of been a better objective to start off with before further story is added on later that way I could of felt a bit more invested in the story before waiting for the rest to be put in. So basically to me, for a story driven game not enough of the story was available from the start.

The game itself runs quite well, no bugs or crashes from my playthrough at least. Option of VR or Play right off the bat in the menu which is great for those who want that.

I hope to see in the future a bit more added to the surface as it already looks quite good in my opinion but could do with a tad more added to it, and will await for the rest of the story. When a bit more of that is added in I will update my review to reflect that. I wish the developers the best of luck and hope to see the story evolve into something I will enjoy.

Game was an obvious scam and had no more than 1 level as proven by other members of the community.

Steam has removed it from the store and offering refunds to all those who bought it regardless of when it was purchased or playtime, think that says enough right there.

Update: Refund finally came through, so will not be able to update any further than this. Buy at your own risk. This review is for version 1.12

TL;DR Review
Not even a game, barely even a concept. You basically will stare at tree's and nothing else.

Long Review
Where to start, this game, well it cannot even really be called a game, is barren as can be.
The devs state all the basics are in, but if the basics are in I am completely horrified of what it will become if anything.

Let's look at all these basics the game supposedly has.
  • Okay first thing a person usually does in a survival is gather materials for survival, well wander around for an hour and you will be lucky to find even a log, rock, or a bush if that so gathering is basically out of the picture.

  • The building menu doesn't even function and in your inventory there is an option for a foundation, that I spent 15 minutes trying to place before I gave up as it would not place anywhere. There was no other building pieces or options available.

  • The inventory and toolbar, well you cannot even drag things around in there or manually put on or take off the toolbar. Oh which also didn't have a hotkey, had to access inventory to even use items on toolbar then click the use button each time.

  • There is no hunting yet you can be a hunter? Again supposedly the basics are in so I guess that means there will be no hunting, unless they lied and not all basics are in.

  • Farming, same as above, doesn't exist but can be a farmer. Also again, remember the basics are already in so I guess this won't be coming either, unless they lied and not all basics are in.

  • No real food gathering source at all in fact really except a couple berries you start off with, chances of finding anything else are really non-existant.

  • The gamechanging AI! Since they seem to bring this up as such a great thing. First AI was a bunch of men (literally copy and pasted models of yourself) standing in front of TeePees, these were the aggressive AI. The AI took a swing at me, then did nothing, I punched it (or slapped it maybe? Couldn't tell with the animation being displayed) and it never retaliated, so I continued until it died. It instantly respawned in same spot and still never hit me again after the first hit.

  • Roaming AI. Well this AI roams, in an obvious predetermined path that is extremely small and never attack. Also copy and pasted models with nothing added.

  • AI death animation, well it looks similar to this before falling into a ball: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GznhT__PXs and a real picture for comparison: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=481767100 Eerily similar right?!?!

  • Voice Chat, the game cut off me and my friends microphone from Steam chat stating it was in use by the game, which has no option to talk to each other in. Yup.

I made the mistake of ignoring the negative reviews I saw since people said a new patch was out and it was much better since those reviews, I gave that the benefit of the doubt since I've seen that happen before, boy do I wish I had listened to the negative reviews this time around.

There is no way I can give this a positive review, there is nothing there, barely even a vision of a game currently. Developers stated basics were already implemented but seems a lot of basics you would expect are not there, it doesn't even really have any concept of survival either. You will spend your time wandering around, there is literally nothing else to do.

First off I'd like to mention Compatibility Mode for the game doesn't seem to keep track of your time except for like a second when it's launched, okay now for my review:

Balls of Steel is an old game (they don't hide that fact are honest with the release date) but a great game. I have played this both on Steam and the original so plenty of years of this game.

You have 5 tables to choose from: Mutation, Barbarian, Darkside, Firestorm, and Duke Nukem. All of the tables are well done and fully voiced.

You have 4 game modes / difficulties: Novice, Regular, Arcade, and Tournament,

By default the tables scroll with ball for a zoomed in view of the table but you do have an option to have the full table view just the text may appear small for some tasks with that view. The default windowed size can be increased to fullscreen using CTRL+F.

You can change the keys for controls such as flippers, nudges and plunger. It has a parental lock also built in as an option if for any reason you need to utilize that. You can even turn off ball and flipper shadows if for some reason that is your thing.

You will want to run the game in compatibility mode (which is a launch option) or else the game will be going so fast you will not be able to know what is going on.

It is also the first of the games from the 3D Realms anthology to be sold on it's own which is what finally got me to purchase it as I did not want to buy the whole bundle for one game. So props to them for listening regarding that matter.

Early Access Review
My current review:

Alright lets start with some things I see commonly come up:

-There is no Micro-transactions, it is a one time purchase.
-People seem to worry about it being abandoned like The Stomping Land. Avalanche Studios would have too much to lose if they ditched the game so do not see that happening. They are the ones responsible for the Just Cause games, I do not see them being willing to ditch a game to ruin sales of their other major games.
-Yes there is bugs, it is early access.
-Yes there is a lot of walking and patience required at some parts, this is hunting not a run and gun war game.

So far I am quite enjoying this game even at it's beginning state, from the amazing visuals to hunting and being hunted by dinosaurs.
There is currently 3 types of dinosaurs, 2 more planned during Early Access phase before release. You start off next to a pod in which you will receive a bow, arrows, and a map fragment, these items are quite weak (but can kill if used properly) and after exploring and surviving the dinosaur inhabitants you will stumble upon encampments and chests in which you can find loot. This can be anything from ammo, camo, health right up to guns.

If you are not careful you could wind up in the jaws of a T-Rex or ambushed by a pack of Raptors. Stealth is your friend when hunting these creatures. T-Rexs are not really advisable to hunt alone as they are extremely tough to take down but with a group of fellow hunters you can take them on. Raptors can track you and even plan to flank you, plenty of times some will creep up on you without you even noticing keeping you on your toes a lot of the time.

Your items go with you after you relog or switch servers, they are with you until you die at which point if you want your items back you will have to run back to where you died to reclaim your items if someone has not already looted your items. PVP is an option for servers to have as well.

Some people do complain about the damage of the weapons against the dinosaurs but the thing is, they're dinosaurs, not thin skinned humans. They have thick skin, thick skulls and small brains, you want to aim for vital organs such as the lungs/heart for the maximum effectiveness. A well placed shot will take down a Raptor in one shot, a T-Rex can be taken down with several well placed shots although if you hit in a not so vulnerable area it will take a lot more to take the mighty beasts down. Animals if hurt enough will bleed out over time as well, so do not just automatically expect a fleeing animal survived. Even the mighty T-Rex may flee if hurt enough.

I do not want to give much about the story of the game away, but there is a bit of a storyline behind it which you will discover while playing if you keep your eyes peeled out for such things.

As for bugs, there is a few and I have crashed a few times but not enough for me to really complain.

I could go on but this is already long. Overall if this is your type of game and do not mind supporting Early Access titles I would recommend it, if that does not sound like your thing, then wait it out.
