Dumb behaviour from devs just updating to break mod support, if only you could find a way to downgrade the version right? Wink. In any case no company this uppity about being anti-modding deserves support. It's not like they'll add half the models modding community is using to their paid DLC that costs 20 Euros each, people who mod won't buy your stuff anyway so just shooting themselves in the foot and for what!!! People who want to support will support but not if you act like this.

Played this game once so far. For 3.4 hours. I want more. I need to fish. I now live to fish. Waiting for my fishing brethren to keep fishing is like torture, every second ticks by not knowing when I will be graced to fish again. Every thought is fish, I live and breathe fish. My thoughts consumed and uninterruptedly fish. 10/10

I wish there was a middle option if I recommend this game or not. It's honestly really fun until the glitches make it unbearable, which was about 4 hours in for me and now I'm dreading playing again. In it's defense - my vram is a little on the lower side, but still. On that note though, I think with some patches and some more polish it can be a really good game. While I can't excuse the massive amount of glitches, I think €30 is still a fair price with how other companies price their games these days. Didn't regret buying it. Although I really dread getting to the point of no saving, it's a brutal mechanic as is but it's just.. not fair at all with the glitches and how finnicky it is. I think the save spot placement is fair apart from that, though.

Loving the game so far. Usually I have no attention span but I had to forcibly put down this game after 8 hours. Really glad it's finally on steam.

My computer isn't the best but it's still gorgeous, I recommend getting the demo first to see how it runs and to fix any issues that may present itself (pushing your settings a bit too far and having outdated drivers were the main things that gave me bad issues). Some things do look a bit weird though and I'm not sure why but it's only rarely I noticed this so far and it definitely didn't make it any less enjoyable.

Fun game if you don't know what you're doing, gets better once you learn what you're doing. That said it didn't take me too long to actually get a good grasp of what to do. Will say a lot of how enjoyable of your game is can depend on how lucky you are with a spawn.

Characters are all really fun. You can get addicted to playing one or switch between different characters each with unique perks that make it easier or harder to survive depending the circumstances.

Friends really add to the game but not required. As all games it's a lot easier communicating through voice since typing is hard when you're getting chased by a pack of feral dogs.

The game can be quite unforgiving at times with your stats being hard to get up without the right stuff but that's one of the things that can make it more fun if you like that kind of thing. If not, there's workshop support to basically alter or add anything you want.

Cosmetics: All DLC are cosmetics most of which you can weave for free by breaking down the free cosmetics you get. Even then though it's all really cheap especially compared to a lot of cosmetics these days (cough battle royal on origin I'm looking at you). If it's not your cup of tea you can just try ship some of the cosmetics off on the steam market to get some extra cents to full bucks.

Meadow is a cute, lovely game that makes you feel all around happy about the world. While it does not have a lot of "gameplay features", it is lovely to run around your fellow anonymous animal companions that you know for a short amount of time. It is refreshing to play a game based around communication - but yet has little means to do so. - as you play as an animal that can only show it's emotions and thoughts through basic emotes and signs. Yet, I have never felt more accepted in a 'game' as in meadow. No matter what you are - you can always join a running pack and more likely than not you will be needed when it comes to obelisks. It most certainly is a nice game to escape the general mainstream games and stop worrying about a general objective - or about being better than the others. Meadow is all about letting go of this idea and relaxing in a world with beautiful artwork and a friendly group of animals who - just like you - don't have any idea of who anyone is, where they're from or what they're like. (While their is a "peek" function to check people's steam names - this is easily turned off/avoided if you prefer this).

In my first adventure, I got stuck at the bottom of a cliff. I thought my group was long gone, but when I got up - they were all still waiting for me. The friendship in this game can move mountains - or at least give each other the patience to wait till you all get on top of it.

Pro's
  • A wonderful and large world to explore and get lost in.

  • While only 50 people are online max per grove, you always find people to adventure with.

  • Most people are very considerate and wait for the entire group to catch up.

  • Multiple animals and tons of skins/emotions to unlock by collecting flowers/crystals.

Con's
  • Not that many features apart from collecting - yet I find this very charming about the game. It's more about letting go of the general idea of gameplay. But if you need an objective that's more than what I have mentioned so far - it may not be for you.

  • About 50% of the animals are unlocked by owning other shelter games. While this isn't that big of a deal as you own the badger cub to begin with and you can still unlock the frog, rabbit, goat and fox, it's still something to keep in mind. You need shelter 1 to be a badger mom, Shelter 2 for the Lynx mom and Paws for the Lynx cub. All of their shelter products need to be bought (soundtracks, books) for the eagle. Although you can be a white eagle for being in the top 10 (good luck with that).

  • Landscape can be a bit glitchy, it's easy to get stuck sometimes. Mostly as a small animal below mountains.

  • Heartbreaking when you lose a pack member or need to leave, say goodbye to your adventure buddies!

I would 100% recommend this game however, to anyone who likes these types of games. This is my first shelter game and I'm definitely happy I gave it a shot.

Great free to play game, great gameplay, regularly adds content as well and has a great system. Nothing negative to say about it, really.

When I had an issue a support ticket was also easily send and I was helped out soon after. Nothing to complain about there either.

I'm so happy I bought this game, which I didn't expect in when I actually started out.
I found this game through a playthrough on youtube and they ended up taking a lot of breaks so I just wanted to know what happend myself and I'm very glad I ended up doing so.

Apart from the few translation/spelling errors there really were no issues for me, at the start the resolution did bother me as I couldn't see any option to change it. But the storyline quickly made me forget about that.
If you're a bit like me, or just to be safe, I'd recommend keeping some tissues at hand. Since you spend so much time with Heejung and the boy of choice, you can really start bonding with them. I'd say one storyline can range from 4-6 hours depending if you decide to skip some things you've already seen if you're replaying the game with a different boy. The cutscenes at the start are mostly the same if I remember correctly.

I'd also like to mention that the art and music are really beautiful together with the storyline.

I really recommend this game to anyone that considers it!
