Nothing like it, people still lining up to play over 12 years after release. It has a tough learning curve but the situations and team play experience when everything clicks is something other games can only dream to achieve. Fair warning, after 100 hours I thought "I know the basics", after 1,000 hours I was confident enough to say I was a good player. Learning is part of the fun, if somebody is getting on your nerves just mute them and play on.

Early Access Review
Wonderful game, has something for whatever mood you are in. If you are up for a challenge, go out and adventure. If you want to relax, build a base!

The more work you put in, the better setup you have. A great balance of systems makes this the only survival game I enjoy. Not too heavy on stats, not to difficult to die unless I want a challenge, building is simple enough to not be overwhelmed, but flexible enough to create elaborate setups.

Definitely give this one a go, I recommend not looking anything up and discovering it on your own.

Great fun! The best EDF series outside of the main games. You don't need to play World Brothers 1, this game has more abilities and is better overall than WB1. But if you are a big EDF fan and figure you will play through both then get WB1 first. No need to play any other EDF games either, it stands on its own. More about character abilities than weapons.

I've completed 4 levels so far and am having a blast. I did not play this game as a kid like most reviews show.

This is a fun game about spawning units and capturing/defending bases to control the map. I can't recall any game like it, it is action packed and has great pacing. You must strike bases strategically in this FPS/RTS. There are also numerous upgrades to improve your hovertank, deployable units and base defenses.

How to generally play the game
- Spawn in your hovertank and shoot any enemies in sight
- Sit in the yellow circle pit and press F9 to claim a Citadel (your main base tower)
- Spawn 2 ground turrets with F5 and 1 SAM with F6 for Citadel defense
- Press O to manage your base(s), spawn in a Power Generator, and start with Infantry and Tanks
- The power generator gives you money to spawn in your own units
- Spawn infantry with F1 on buildings to set satchel charges
- Spawn tanks with F2 for unit damage and minor building damage
- You can also spawn fighter jets and bombers after you build those facilities (F3 and F4)
- Recycle (delete) your units when they served their purpose to get money back (default is Delete key but I changed it to Z)
- If you hear your citidel is under attack, press F12 to cycle to each citadel tower and fight the baddies. You can spawn in your own turrets and SAMs if the enemies took them out.
- Press ESC to return to your hovertank from the citadel view

How I learned the game:
- I did not play the tutorial (so it might help you out)
- I read a guide on GameFAQs
- I reviewed the in-game keyboard configuration
- Trial and Error which was fun figuring out the puzzle

Some notes:
- There is a guide on steam to increase the resolution, I did not do that though
- The game does not like multiple monitors, set to display only 1
- Scroll wheel or changing volume might skip a cutscene (not that they really matter)
- In the options, setup the 2 mouse bars for Sensativity and Acceleration up all the way to the right.
- Increase the graphics while you are in the options

Play the core game without Phantom Liberty. If you are having a great time then go ahead and buy this. I don't recommend the primary game either, but I would have had a better experience without playing Phantom Liberty.

Played 79 hours, but I cannot recommend this...

The story overall is good, good enough to keep you going, but through most of the game I was fighting myself to get through at times. I so badly wanted to only complete the main story line but I figured I wasn't doing the game justice if I didn't experience everything. So I did all side quests that were given to me, including Phantom Liberty.

The world setting is also cool, but I feel like they missed the mark here.

Now to the bad, the gameplay is terribly uninteresting. How do you play between all the talking? You shoot stuff, or drive around, or pick up random useless stuff to make it feel like you are accomplishing something. The gunplay and combat was slow and simple, even with all the cybernetics, character skills and weapon attachments, it all works but no upgrades or weapons provided excitement. And picking up random crap everywhere ruined the immersion, I'm supposed to be breaking into this facility like Sam Fisher but I see a 2 gallon bottle of milk in the hallway, we better pick that up right now!

There were also so many bugs, nothing that halted my progress, but I can't recall the last time I played a game that had so many glitches that ruined the immersion... I bought this game because I wanted a high quality experience in this great setting, but there were all these little problems constantly reminding me I'm playing a messy game. Things like, main characters leaning on invisible cars, cars driving halfway through the ground, my unique car I just unlocked not working so I get out for a duplicate car to drop on top of it, characters who are supposed to be my "family" in a touching moment yelling at me to get out of their face, seeing 50 headlights on the 4 lane highway ahead but as I get closer they each disappear because there are really only 10 cars there, the cops asking for my help so I join a shootout but the cops decide to shoot at me after we kill the bad guys, finishing a mission and the main character I'm with asking me if I want to take a ride to their place and when we get there they drop me off and leave so that was a huge waste of 5 minutes, the phone ringing nonstop early on while in the middle of mission dialogue, characters in important cutscenes loading in the items they are holding, characters in cutscenes duplicating themselves so one of them is stuck still and the other is moving around, your car disappearing after you did a mission 50 feet away for 2 minutes.

Which brings me to my next point. Night City looks great! But there are so many buildings and stores that you can't interact with, what few NPC's are walking around, just spit a silly line at you. There are a very small number of cars on the road for this "Mega City". And all you can do is walk around without shooting, shoot random people, or drive around! Yay! All I can think is that Grand Theft Auto 3 had more things to do and that was released in 2001. Oh yeah, and where are all the parking spots? And why are some of the highways so messed up without exits so you have to do a U Turn on the interstate every time you go the same route (which you will 10 times over)?

Phantom Liberty is definitely a NO GO. There was one, maybe two parts that were a bit exciting, but man did it not pay off. Overall the setting stank, and the story was "good" but I rather would have skipped it altogether.

The developers were in way over their head. Yes you can increase the population and car density, yes you can install mods to improve things, but I'm reviewing this game out of the box, the game the developers left me with. If they scaled down the city, reduced the secondary missions, and put focused effort into the gameplay it would have been a much better experience. I did enjoy the endings but it was not worth the 70+ hours to get there. Obviously I'm not one that enjoys Open World RPG's or whatever you call this genre, so ignore my opinion if that's what you like; but even if that is your genre, make sure to look into other reviews before buying.

Campaign was fantastic, PvE is basic but satisfying to turn your brain off and kill some time with. I'd rather play other games for PvP. If you are contemplating playing Space Marine 1 go ahead and do it, that was fun as well and I was glad I knew the story of that game before this one; not necessary to play SM1 before this though. No Warhammer experience required.

Fun enough, worth $15 on sale. If your CPU has more than 8 cores the game won't start so follow these instructions:
- Run msconfig
- Select the "Boot" tab
- Advanced Options.
- Check Number of Processors
- Select 8
- OK, Apply, OK
- Reboot machine

After playing uncheck "Number of Processors" to operate normally.
