I got this game for free during a promotion recently, so I really didn't have anything to lose by trying it. But having played it for several hours now, I'm glad to say I'd have paid full price for it (and I'm very likely to buy V3). The sniping mechanics are extremely satisfying, the visuals are crisp, and the gameplay can be frantic at times.

There are a few minor problems. The AI is very hit-or-miss. Sometimes they'll loop around and flank you before you realize what's happening, while other times they get stuck against a tree or other object and make themselves an extremely easy target. Additionally, stealth kills are problematic. If you hit the indicated button when behind an enemy to perform a quick takedown, it usually doesn't work if the enemy is seated. Likewise, you can't perform this technique from any angle other than directly behind the guard, which frustrated me when I would tap the button while slightly diagonal to the guard only to have nothing happen.

Aside from those gripes though, it's a very satisfying game and a nice (dare I say much-needed) return to the WWII setting. A++ would play again.
