Early Access Review
Completely redoing my review of this game, because since making my prior review they've fixed so many things that bothered me. The crafting tables and the anvils are consolidated so you no longer need the older ones after making a more advanced one. Hoping to see that done with things like the Distillery as well, but this is a step in the right direction. Certain recipes are easier to make now as well, pets have been fun. Overall? I definitely recommend this game now and hope to keep seeing changes made to improve the QoL for players!

A good multiplayer game. Still in it's early phases, so if you don't like it now give it some time and consider coming back to it. The devs are doing their best to try and provide a fun experience for the players that isn't too easy but not too unforgiving.

At risk of beating a dead horse, I'm going to throw my two cents out there.

This is, simply put, not a Drawn to Life game and I'm very bothered by the fact that this is actually a main part of what's now a trilogy.

I went into this expecting to love it like I loved the other two games, with all the possible customizations included. In my current experience with the game, however, that aspect has been put on the back burner.

I see this as an issue if only because of the fact that the creative aspect of Drawn to Life and The Next Chapter were what MADE the games! The entire point was having you draw stuff into the world and, in logical addition, color it in.

Here you just... basically play a Mario game. Which is fine on its own, but as the third installment of the series proper is a letdown.

Let me sort my points out a bit better. Possible spoilers.

Story - Opens up instsntly from where we left off...kinda. Takes a surprising amount of time to exposit before we're able to play. We get given THAT book, and then it just kinda tapers off til the villain randomly shows up? After that I checked out because it just failed to hook me at all. The "not all darkness is some outside evil force" concept seems cool, with people just being really cruel til you fix their mind. But it feels half baked given it's happening because of the outside force.

Gameplay - Like I said, it's a Mario game. Albeit, 2.5D Mario, which means it's at least accessable. But it isn't a Drawn to Life game. The most creative you get inside of actual gameplay is some levels that are like fill in the blank forms of Mario Maker levels. All the enemies are just toys that exist in some mental toybox. And no, that's not a joke, they're literally called toys. Bakis are just durable goombas, those weird... armadillos? Basically koopas. It's just a standard platformer really.

In addition, the day-night cycle feels a little forced, especially for a mechanic that stops you in your tracks every couple minutes to be like "Hey it's changing to day now." Cycle should either be MUCH longer, not exist at all, or just..not pause gameplay for a pointless popup.

Overall, this game feels like it was supposed to be something else entirely, and then they slapped Drawn to Life on the cover. Probably better off emulating the first games, or finding a copy of them on Amazon or something.

This game definitely still has its flaws, but I genuinely believe that the enjoyment you can get out of it is more than worth it. With it being just officially launched August 20th, 2020, I see a bright future where the team continues to fix issues that both have or may have arisen. They are very good at addressing the issues of the community overall. I also hope to see more content, and maybe more expansions to the lore, as the mysterious atmosphere of knowing so little about this world's history makes me want to know more.

Good game and a fun modding community. A wonderful way to kill time and a fun little cast of characters

Good game, and even after you get bored of the game itself the modding api is really easy to install and use as long as your computer can handle it, which most of them should be able to.
