I never played anything from this series before, but it's feels like a call back to the grass root of JRPG.

One of the issues I have with the game, is that it feels sluggish. The battle are short, but almost always take about a whole minute+ because of all the animations going through. Can't speed up that portion of the game, but you can see the slowness while playing the card and egg racing minigames. Luckily, those are optional content.

Then the tutorial looks incomplete. Minigames have some effects/stats that have no detail about them, so you kinda have to figure out what they do on your own. While it's not a big deal, it would've been nice to know what it did, even if it was just a short mini game (Card Battle, Egg-Racing). Along with that, the battle info like stunning or covering aren't too detail.

However other than that, the animation, artworks and the amount of VA in the game are amazing. The VA in the theater for all the characters was a nice treat. Then when you're exploring the over-world, entering buildings, and fighting battles, the artwork are gorgeous. Extremely well done for such a genre.

Other than that, If you want to play some old fashion JRPG. I highly recommend this game.
If you planned for the 100% completionist route, Its gonna be awhile.

Early Access Review
For a game being in Early Access, it's a solid game with some end game content in there already.

Gameplay is solid and fun. I can see the Dev has some ideas around team building for your "Pals" team from early game.

Online play experiences varies depending on how you do it.
-Official Server: Can be laggy and completely full when attempt to join and stay in. Server Crashes are extremely common.

-Hosting: Can be laggy depending on user connection, but it way more stable and will see less crashes.

-Paid Dedicated Server: This varies depend on the price the user paid for, and their host. From what I experience, a friend brought the highest server tier and it was an extremely smooth experience for me. There were still hiccup on there: rubber-banding, lags, and server crashes. But, it was way less minimal compare to the official and other community server I'd joined.

Overall, the game is off to an amazing start. I recommend it to anyone who enjoy playing action RPGs.

The game is real short. I gotten all the achievements in 21 hours, and done everything the game has the offer.

Story wise, it doesn't really have a good flow in character development. Companion are really just there to make the game longer. They have their own background story, and doing the side quest to them are straight to the point.

Gameplay is nice, but if you figure out the strategy in-battle, you probably won't be changing anything from beginning to end. Once you hit end game, it's nothing new that you seen in the beginning. I was excited for the gameplay in the demo, but was sad when there wasn't much changes at the end.

In the end, not worth the 60$ price tag.
