This game is not a GOTY contender. This is not a game you will spend more than 4 hours playing. What this game is however, is $5-$10 worth of fun for $3.

If you like progression games, you've seen the trailer, and you have $3 to spend on entertainment, then you've already decided you're buying this game. You're probably just checking these reviews to see how long the game is. So here's my take: You can beat this game in under 2 hours with only 2 prestiges. To maximize your playtime and enjoyment, prestige as soon as you can every time. There is an endgame, but the rate at which you gain power seems to scale much faster than the difficulty increase, so there's really not much point in continuing to push to higher levels. I beat sector 60 as of the time of this review and felt the game was unlikely to change if I chose to progress.

For players who are unfamiliar with progression games and are considering buying the game: There's a free demo. Go ahead and check it out. Keep in mind that the progress from the demo does not seem to transfer over to the main game, but if you're bothered by having to reprogress in a game, then the progression genre and this game probably aren't for you.

I was very happy with my purchase and recommend this game to anyone who wants to blow a few hours on a fun, simple progression game. I'll be checking out other titles from this dev/publisher.

Early Access Review
looked up spoilers to confirm I did beat final boss and there's nothing left to do. The game has a few neat mechanics, but compared with other recent survival launches with far more content, the game is just nowhere near worth the $30 price tag (at least not yet). They've build a solid engine and gameplay is smooth (Valheim, probably the most similar survival title always felt clunky, this doesn't have any of that). As near as I can tell there is no endgame. You just beat the boss and are out of things to do. Survival games are about exploring and finding what's next. This felt more like a flowchart where the story said - go here do this, then go here and do this. It was far too linear for the genre.

The gear progression in the game left little choice. There were tiers of gear and until you upgraded to the tier appropriate for a zone everything in the zone would be ridiculously difficult and everything in previous zones was laughable. It scaled more like an MMORPG than a survival title.

Overall: I'll give the game a C. I'll click the recommend button, but I definitely could go either way on this one.

Can they fix it? Possibly, but a lot of what irks me about this game is so ingrained in the story / progression flows that I'm not sure they'll make the effort.

Best shooter roguelike I've played so far. I saw a targeted ad for this on Reddit. Seemed neat so I installed it. Recommended it to my friends and we've been playing a ton. The biggest issue this game has right now is nobody knows about it. Once it launches in EA, I'm sure it'll pop off once the streamers start showcasing it.
