A truly exceptional game that I had an absolute blast playing. Note: my Steam playtime doesn't reflect my actual hours, as the vast majority of my playthrough was done offline.

What stood out most was the phenomenal combat system. The bow mechanics are arguably some of the best I've experienced – aiming feels precise, impactful, and incredibly satisfying. Learning to use different elemental arrows and strategically targeting specific components on the diverse range of creatures is core to the gameplay and never gets old. It encourages tactical thinking beyond just shooting.

Beyond the combat, the world itself is breathtakingly beautiful and rich with lore. Exploring the ruins while navigating a world ruled by machines is captivating. The story kept me hooked.

The difficulty felt well-balanced for the most part. Some boss fights definitely pushed me, leading to some initial frustration. However, this was almost always a rewarding learning curve – forcing me to properly analyze enemy attack patterns, utilize traps, and exploit elemental weaknesses rather than just brute-forcing it. It teaches you patience and strategy!

Although I rarely replay single-player campaigns, Horizon Zero Dawn offers plenty of reasons to dive back in – missed side quests, higher difficulties like New Game+. It's a polished, engaging, and visually stunning adventure that I wholeheartedly recommend.

Medieval Dynasty: A Deep Dive into Medieval Life with Building, Management, and Role-Playing

Medieval Dynasty offers a unique gaming experience that skillfully blends survival, city-building strategy, role-playing, and life simulation elements. As a player, you are immersed in a detailed and atmospheric medieval world where you guide the destiny of your own village. Starting from humble beginnings, you construct buildings, gather resources, tend to the needs of your villagers, and gradually build a thriving community.

The first-person perspective draws you directly into the world and lets you experience the changing seasons, the challenges of survival, and the joys of building up close. The game gives you the freedom to shape your village according to your own vision and progress at your own pace.

The latest features are particularly noteworthy: The co-op mode allows you to explore and shape the medieval world together with friends. You can work together to gather resources, construct buildings, and overcome challenges. The new map "Oxbow" provides a fresh environment with new opportunities and scenic landscapes to discover.
The building and management aspect is particularly well-done. You must ensure the well-being of your villagers by growing food, raising animals, and engaging in trade. Over time, you can automate production chains to make your village more efficient and free up your time for other activities.

The role-playing element comes into play through interactions with other characters, quests, and decisions that influence the course of your story. You can build relationships, get married, and start a family. The development of your dynasty over generations is a long-term goal that adds extra depth to the game.

A minor point of criticism is that the dynasty aspect might feel a bit short for players who progress quickly. Those who play efficiently and organize their village well may reach a point where the gameplay becomes somewhat repetitive early on. Here, it would be desirable for the developers to create even more long-term motivation and challenges for advanced players.

Nevertheless, Medieval Dynasty is an impressive game that convinces with its atmosphere, depth of play, and the developers' continuous improvements. It offers a captivating blend of building, management, and role-playing that will keep you enthralled for many hours. I will continue playing and enjoy every update from the developers. They seem to care deeply and truly for this game.

PS: I still search for a stable and updated Minecraft modpack with a Medieval Dynastie/Stardew Valley theme (Something like MineColonies)!

Post-Engine-Update (August 2024):
I have to play a LOT more to make a good review, but so far:
- the new map and looks are BEAUTIFUL
- the "Feldermäuse" are very cute
- disappointed by the "Console contered UI" without any options to get another for pc
- many sub menus
- often confirming everything (e.g unequipping stuff, 3 times to exit)
- many bugs and questionable decisions
- lose 75hp when getting downed by dragonsbreath
- lost 75hp when getting downed by krag fire ammo??
- assets invisible for .5s sometimes
- idk

Pre-Engine-Update (May 2024):
Initially, this game experienced a significant surge in player competitiveness. However, recent events have led to a noticeable lack of meaningful bug fixes, relying instead on continuous "Events" to maintain momentum. I believe the growing number of console players, who face considerable challenges with aiming—a task already difficult on PC—has contributed to a marked increase in the prevalence of one-shot variants across all types. PC players, adept at exploiting these mechanics, leverage every opportunity to gain a competitive edge over their opponents. This dynamic has significantly diminished my enjoyment of the last shooter game I played.

In lower ranks, one could gain the upper hand through unexpected tactics, but at higher levels (5 stars and above), the strategy shifts. Without resorting to de-ranking tactics in "Soul Survivor," it becomes challenging to surprise opponents, as typically, the one who initiates action is at a disadvantage unless they can secure two immediate eliminations.

Regrettably, the focus has shifted away from significant balance updates to an overwhelming emphasis on new content. I'm perplexed by this strategy, as I spent years engaged with the game before the introduction of the first event without losing interest. While I don't deny that events can introduce a refreshing element, a constant barrage of them throughout the year seems excessive.

Perhaps it's time for me to take a break from this piece of art and explore new horizons. I've had many great experiences and cherish the memories, but currently, the magic seems to have faded for me. I'll return to it eventually, when the time feels right.

Early Access Review
