Plays differently from the beta. Incredibly sluggish movement & clumsy weapon handling; a chore to play . . .

An amazing atmosphere, but it lacks a cohesive story. A pleasant 7 hour game for those who are into Detective noir, but there's little to be had otherwise. The writing simply isn't strong enough to make the story's high stakes compelling.

A fairly repetitive experience with dull writing and some very broken mechanics. The overabundance of loot & the lack of unique equipment makes everything feel arbitrary. Your companions are less characters and more caricatures, save for one or two outliers. Despite the many worlds, few of them feel truly unique. The two pieces of DLC are the only pieces of standout content, but its hard for me to recommend the game based on just the DLC.

Although the early portions of the game had moments of unearned sentimentality and hokey writing, the story settles into a competent & often capable melodrama after Act 1. The social elements are thin, but they felt appropriate for the game. In terms of combat & exploration, its quite similar to the Persona series; more intricate in some ways and less in others.

While I had my reservations with the writing early on, the latter parts were superb. I think many would draw the conclusion that a certain path is the correct one, but it might not be the purely moral choice. It's story is a wonderful melodrama of grief that challenges the player to question the concept of personal autonomy, and its lessons are especially relevant today.

I've Platniumed this game on the PS5, but grabbed the PC version as well so I can play it on the go. It's one of the most beloved games of all time and for good reason.

A phenomenal capsule of the 90s. The relationships of the main cast are wonderfully realized, though Part 2 is hampered by awkward writing and an unsatisfying conclusion. Worth it for the nostalgia trip, but ultimately a little unfulfilling.

An beautiful game with a handful of minor hiccups. Comparable to Ghost of Tsushima, but a small step back in both story & presentation, though it does have much deeper stealth mechanics. If you enjoyed GoT, you'll likely enjoy Shadows.

The extreme repetitiveness of the darkspawn node puzzles aside, I had quite a bit of fun with Veilguard. The writing can be uneven, but the good outweighs the bad. If you can ignore the culture war nonsense, there's a good game to be found.
