Good Stealth/Action game with strong story and different approaches

The stealth is tight, enemies behave very clever and also watch in corners you would not expect. You have many tools to succeed in your sneaking, some might disturb stealth enthusiasts as they allow for an "easier" approach like showing the vision cones of enemies (even through walls). But many tools also allow quite unique ways of eliminating or passing by enemies. It is also pretty fast paced in terms of movement, you barely have to wait for long for enemies to be in an advantageous position like in other stealth games. The special abilities are all nice gimmicks, even though it usually boils down to ever using only a few of them depending on your playstyle. You are also able to play the game in a rampage manner with sword and pistol, though it ever seemed to me that the game merely gave you the choice but is balanced around stealth. Regarding of how many people you kill the game world also changes a bit and gives you a different ending, which some people didn't seem to like as it boils the moral choices into good and bad behaviour, which I didn't mind that much though, it's a story after all and not an RPG that encourages free story development.

Some should also be said about the story and the universe, because the universe created by Dishonored is very fascinating and unique. Think of Steampunk, but less Victorian styled and more anglophile design with a focus on sailors and whale hunters. Therefore the main energy source is also whale oil instead of steam. The whole scenario just feels extremely fresh and easy to jump into. There are also a lot of books in the game to read which emphasize the vast background the universe has to offer, some completely irrelevant to the story yet very interesting. Besides that, the story itself is also pretty good, even though slightly predictable. The characters are all very well written and the voice actors do their job well.

All in all definitely a game I can recommend, even though I think that you should at least be able to enjoy stealth because with a pure actiony-approach, there are better games out there.
