When this first came out, I felt like it was a bit barebones. However, the latest update for this DLC finally fixed those issues. Being able to rise to the top of society, and actually bring about change, is something which appeals to everyone. I absolutely enjoyed this and appreciated how you constantly had challenges and everything was hard-fought (the scottish raids were a bit on the side of 'ridiculous' in their frequency though).

If theres something I can complain about, it'd be that I'd like to be able to make more decisions after we win the civil war or after its concluded. Let us rewrite laws and policies, bring about reforms, see the positives and negatives of all of that. The post-win content is pretty nice, especially with how you can go on more campaigns, but I really feel that the administrative side could use some more expansion. But then again thats just me wanting to LARP and influence the Kingdom a lot more, otherwise its more of the same but with a more effective ruler imo.

First time writing a review, so take this with a hint of salt. The game is a bit buggy, but thats really just with A.I pathfinding, which only gets bad in stairs, otherwise I only had 2 incidents where they got stuck on something and I was left confused as to where my guys went.

The game is very good at messing with you, that is making you question conventional game mechanics and testing how smart or logical you really are. This is what got me hooked and interested in the game after I tried it. I won't say much more on the matter as it'd spoil.

The story is good, it's not some shakespearean marvel but certainly is good, especially for an alpha. More-so when you consider how this all seems to be the prologue to the actual story. The dialogue in particular is very fluid and believable, it fleshes out the characters and espouses information on the world in effective and natural ways. You get attached to the characters and discern who they are through the dialogue quite well, initially simple surface-level characters turn out to be multi-faceted.

The combat is just a placeholder, as per the dev's own statement, so it's not good but it gets the job done. Just heavy slash and use your pistol, you'll be fine.

The graphics is alright, gives me flashbacks to playing Warband, but its an alpha so I'm really fine with it. Though I am a tad jealous that Dimitri is more handsome than Alex, perhaps we can give Alex a make-over later in the story? lol

The movement is very janky, especially with the horses, but I presume that falls in-line with the alpha status. I see plenty of unvoiced voice lines with the villagers, so I definitely see theres a lot they have planned, perhaps even more interaction in the village?

Sound and music design is good, but I don't have much to say, not off the top of my head.

All in all, this seems like a game where you'll get to have a lot of choices that'll actually matter, even if its a minor effect its a effect that makes you feel like it mattered. I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on it.
