The new Shadow part of the game has no right being as good as it is. It's outrageously good. I haven't finished the game yet, I've heard it's short but right now I feel very happy with the money I spent on it just for this part alone because the gameplay is just so much fun.

The problem with the game taken as a whole is that the 2D Sonic levels feel like ass to control and the 3D levels don't really stack up to the new Shadow levels, but that's not really the fault of the game. That part is a remaster of an 11 year old game after all.

The game has some pretty glaring flaws. The episode battle feels very fragmented and personally think it would have been better served had some of the campaigns been merged together. There is no indicator or visible time limit for alternate objectives making obtaining them more frustrating than they have to be, Grabbing opponents on the floor can be a bit funky sometimes, a somewhat lacking amount of character customisation options and there are some options I feel are missing such as randomising maps or music or disabling sparking music altogether as a few examples.

Does any of this matter? Absolutely not. This game is a Dragon Ball fan's dream game. The game looks beautiful. I feel almost every character had some amount of love put into them, some more than others but not egregiously so. My personal highlights are some of the what-if episodes and the comprehensive encyclopedia voiced by Chi-Chi, Bulma and Videl.

Most importantly the game is just fun. There are many ways to attack your opponent with combo strings and flashy super attacks and ways to respond to attacks by blocking, vanishing and numerous ways to counterattack.

If you couldn't tell I love this game and I can't believe it exists in 2024. If you like Dragon Ball buy this game. If you like arena fighters buy this game. If you just want a fun action game to play or would like a gateway into Dragon Ball buy this game.

Much better than was previously on offer. I wouldn't describe this DLC as "amazing value", but I do think it's good at this current level of content.

CA have since fixed some of my biggest issues with the game. They have massively increased their patch cadence, U-turned on the awful DLC strategy and to be frank, I just love this series and after the recent beating CA have taken with layoffs I'm worried for the future of TWW. Heres to many more years of content.
