I do not know how to feel about this. It is a carbon copy of Squad - but worse. Had you shown me this gameplay 6 years ago and told me this was Squad in development I would've believe you. I have a hard time seeing the vision of this game. What is different about it? Modable squad? That is cool in its own right but making a game completely reliant on a modding community without the base game being something unique is not sustainable. Its kind of like how Post Scriptum (which i loved) was just Squad with a ww2 texture pack and that died off really fast. It was the same product as Squad just worse and was only fun because of how much of a ♥♥♥♥-post it was. But ultimately the thing it was based off of (Squad) is remarkably better and has maintained a strong healthy player base. The same thing likely to happen here. I understand that the base game is still in development but if the base game being developed is just Squad, then whats the point? I'm going to stick along for the ride with this one because I love the idea of a modern mod friendly tactical shooter that might be more refined than ARMA but I am incredibly skeptical. Only time will tell and I just hope that I will stop seeing click-bait videos about this on YouTube.

On first impressions I have never been so blown away by a video game. The sheer depth and complexity of the game is immense. Each time I play I find something new. Now im not going to pretend that Im even remotely good at the game. I have managed to lose every single round I have played. But every time im not playing the game im day dreaming different strategies and ship layouts. The incredible amount of control you have over the ships and the battle field is truly awesome. Hard to learn, difficult to master is an understatement. This is one of those games where I really want to get good because I have been waiting for a space RTS like this for so long. Props to the developers for making such a great, intelligent, optimized game!

There are a few things I would like to see added to the game that I think would balance out the game some more:

Individual Pitch and Yaw controls, currently can only roll

A wider variety in ship speeds, why does my corvette have the same top speed and acceleration of a battleship? Ships are a little to slow so it feels like your just controlling submarines sometimes.

Multi select ships for coordinated attacks, for example program 1 missile path and multiple ships can fire a missile that follows that path.

Imagine a 6 year old boy just learning how play video games being sat down and shown this game. giant robots, lasers, cannons, etc... It boggled my 6 year old mind. I spent much of my early childhood playing this game on my brothers steam account. of course as i got older i moved onto other things such as minecraft because i had no friends my age who played strategy games like i did. as time went on i eased back into strategy games such as Civ 5, hearts of iron, men of war, planetary anhilliation. Then i met a friend in 7th grade that had the same love of strategy games like i did. He had just moved from florida to wisconsin and i was the first friend he had at school. Him and i were sort of bullied and we grew very close. I later learnt that he loved the game supreme commander as i did. i bought the game for my own steam account and the game that fostered my love of video games and strategy was soon remembered. He and i spent hours going home after school and playing this game. unfortunetly as i graduated i moved to california and he moved to virginia. Me and my friend slowly stopped playing video games as my friend had started switching to consul games. by the time i was in california i had stopped playing supreme commander again and played other games. then about 1 month ago i saw my supreme commander game in the top left corner of the screen. i clicked on it and the nostalgia came flooding in. this game helped me evolve into what i am today. I sat there thinking back to playing this game when i was little but sucking at it, but i remember having a blast. then i remembered my friend from middle school, how we came so close, the drifted so far away. I will always cherish this game, i will always remember this game for the true joy it gave me. i dont know if anyone will read this review considering it is 2019 now, but if there is someone out there who reads this, just know that this game is special and i want you and everyone else to experience it. if you want to play against me sometime add me on steam and send me a message or on discord Bashar al-Assad#8760
