The combat early on is very simplistic, repetitive, and dull, bordering on boring; Usually that wouldn't be that big of a problem in this type of game since your characters level up and gain new abilities and you get new units to play with.

Except this is a roguelite so you'll have to go through this growing pains multiple times.

Also the animations, and impact of animations and abilities feel very lackluster, there's also very minimal camera work and you're perpetually seeing the action from a bird's eye view which feels like a missed oportunity in this kind of game; I wish the camera would zoom in or even change angles to see the action more up close like in the modern Xcom, or Fire Emblem games.

I had this game on my wishlist because of the demo, i thought the demo showed the game had a good foundation and showed promise; Unfortunately after buying the game and playing it, it turned out to not have any significant improvements over the demo.

My biggest gripes are that the enemy designs and weapons feel uninspired, the power ups and loot are just standard stat increases, and the environment is kinda boring.

Its not good, Code Vein 1 was mid, middle of the road, average, the appeal of 1 was that it was an anime souls game and it delivered on that front.

This one is in my opinion worse than 1 in almost every single way, the combat is a little better since you have more toys to play with, the bosses are better, and some individual characters are better than characters in 1(Josee and Zenon my beloveds).

By the end of the game i did find myself enjoying it, however i would not recommend you buy this game for the full asking price, 20-30 bucks would be a good price for this game.

Scratches the Xcom itch, and it has cool mechs.

Protip for anyone that has never touched a gacha: Don't spend more than the monthly 5 bucks subscription thing, just accept that you're not going to get every single character.

When i started playing i thought "why is no one talking about this game? It looks sick", but now i kinda get it. I'll start by saying that this game is good, and fun, and nice, but it's imo a very 7.something out of 10 game.

Biggest problem is that the game is extremely easy, in my playthrough i only died twice, once to a boss that has such an extremely cheap one hit kill move that i'd be surprised if it hasn't killed every single person that played this game once with it. Once you know it's there it's very easy to avoid so it's not that big deal, it's almost a joke move. And the second time was without spoiling anything to a "puzzle" for lack of a better term.

Now i don't need every game to be a hellish nightmare, but i when i say extremely easy, i mean you will walk over and stomp through every single enemy encounter in this game with barely any difficulty until close to the end of the game, and even then it's very unlikely that you'll actually struggle much.

Also related to that problem is that the enemy encounters are very samey, you will constantly be walking through long corridors slowly gunning down enemies that can't fight back.

Also while the story isn't particularly important to me in these types of games, i will point out that you will see everything coming from a mile away, it is very simple, straightforward and predictable.

tl;dr: Nice game, but get it on sale.
