This was one of the OGs. I feel like i played alot more than I actually did. Way back in 2013 I did my first build ever just for this game. I had somehow stumbled upon ARMA 2 milsim videos on youtube and was blown away something like that existed. I loved tactical shooters like RB6, SWAT, and ghost recon and I spent like 10 years away from PC gaming. So when I saw ARMA 3 about to release I had to play it. built a mean machine with a i5 3570k and a HD7950. Got the game on early access(mind blowing at the time) and booted it up.

Had absolutely zero Idea what I was doing lol, it ran like dogwater, and I couldnt understand the control scheme at all. So I played other fine PC exclusives like Planetside 2, Total war, and Red orchestra 2.

I came back with a fresh understanding of PC gaming and actually started having fun in PvE servers. Met one of my best friends in one 10 years ago now. I eventually got into the actual milsim stuff I had seen on youtube and had a good experience doing that. but i really wasnt in to taking a game THAT seriously it turned out. But I still do find it fun at times.

The game really looked great back then. Its not all that bad even now. But coming from consoles the scale and fidelity and attention to detail was something that blew me away at the time.

ARMA 3 is truly one of the games that I would call a fundamental PC experience. even if you really dont like this type of game. I had never experienced a community essentially finishing a game with modding before. Which is a hallmark of PC gaming. This is one of the classics.

Early Access Review
I like the game. it reminds me of custom DayZ servers but with an EFT U.I. The servers are stressed out, as expected, it needs polish, some obvious goofs like not being able to bind(or find) the VOIP keybind, not being able to toggle aim or lean (come on guys) are present. Bugs, of course.

But. Its kinda fun, the shooting is good, except for the glock, its like this seasoned operator never fired a pistol before. seriously. Its almost unusable. But the shooting is good. it does require skill, and I don't feel the need to full auto like on Tarkov. Similar to insurgency, not very clunky. its nice.

performance is not great but playable in my opinon. Fully maxed out with xess gets 60 fps on a 7900xtx. FSR2 gets 130fps but looks like dog water. typical unreal 4 early access. that will be a long process for this game.

I recommend this game if you understand youre buying something heavily in development.

I've never played a city builder before so I had zero expectations for this game.
I'm having a lot of fun playing it.

They're not lying about the recommended specs. You need a good machine to run this game. I'm sure once I get a huge population I'll be lucky to get 30fps. I'm running it on a 7900xtx and a 7700x and it's running good enough for me. No crashing minor stutters. This game is a rig buster though, some of that is on the devs but most is the fidelity. And it's impressive.

The U.I. is okay. I really don't know how much better you can get it to be considering the amount of stuff packed in the game. Again, this is my FIRST city builder. I've somehow not played a single one since I started PC gaming in 1997. There's not a lot of hidden menus and everything feels similar to 6x strategy games, so there's some familiarity for me there.

The game looks fine. I should try bumping the anti aliasing up. I usually turn them down because jaggies don't bother me that much but it's kinda hard to see things at times. It does make me question the optimization. I feel like it doesn't look as good as it should for how GPU heavy it is.

I like how I don't have to micro manage stuff. There's a lot of things you can do to increase efficiency, especially with traffic. Which I find interesting.

It's honestly a cool game and I wouldn't regret paying the asking price for it.

I recommend it for users with at least a 4070 super/7900xt - 7700x/13600k. Yeah. Not great and I understand the frustrations with this game. But it is fun.

A buggy, bloated, glorified Arma 2 mod from 2012. It spawned an entire genre and it's pretty much still the best. It's garbage and incredible at the same time.

I don't get it and I doubt I ever will.

An extremely polished and focused race sim. Has good vr support but does require tweaks in my opinion.

It's been my main sim second only to the original AC game for years now. You can just hop on and get a race in with no hassle at a fraction of the cost of iracing. It's easy to find leagues as well.

Just a great sim and a good community. Definitely worth the time. Just make sure you get a wheel and pedals.

Got the game and a bunch of dlc for $11 on sale. Otherwise it's a bit overpriced. There's still a lot of bikes and tracks that come with it.

I'm a sim driver but Ive always wanted to get into bikes. This game makes second guess buying a ridiculously powerful icbm on two wheels.

Dependably crashes just like back in 1999 on my dad's Sony Vaio PCV-120. Perfect nostalgia.

11 years. 11 years this has been my favorite game. Not my most played, but my favorite. This is still, the only game where a cheap, bolt action, standard issue rifle, feels satisfying. smoking someone full sprint that you can barely see with a mosin at 227m is immense fun. This has yet to be replicated in any multiplayer shooter and ive played them all just about. Verdun couldn't do it, post scriptum couldn't, HLL may get close but I doubt it. Nothing has the grit, nothing feels like a hopeless meatgrinder, nothing makes you feel as fragile, vulnerable, or battle hardened. They nailed the atmosphere, the weaponry, the fighting, and the music.

This was art, ladies and gentleman. This was the best military shooter ever made. Not because it was pretty, it was ugly even by 2011 standards, not because it was a technical feat, and not because of content or variety. It was the best because it was simple, focused. Tripwire had a vision and executed with near artistic perfection. Because the game punishes you for you joining a server. You will be mowed down by an mg42. you will be mortared and grenaded...by your own teamates AND the enemy. You will enter a room, somehow out shoot a guy with a PPSH with a Kar 98, take HIS gun and get shot in the head 20 seconds later.

its perfect.

You can't afford to have fun in this game. You will not finish any tech tree in a sane amount of time. Getting 5 nukes in 5 consecutive matches will not afford you a single vehicle above 8.0. regardless of your individual skill you will have a grind that only gets harder. There's no light at the end.

This your warning. Gaijin doesn't care. They are on the path of destroying their own game with greed like many f2p have done in the past.
