The game looks great
that's about where the good stuff ends.
It is incredibly low effort
you can tell you are playing a resident evil game, but it's just a shell.
There is no depth to the exploration, there are no actual puzzles, the enemies are positioned for exactly the same reason in every section - player has to make a choice between avoid enemy or use ammo to kill enemy. ...Often times that's just to get to an herb, or to some ammo.
Every section is structured exactly the way you expect: enter area > walk down corridor until you find out what this section's "puzzle" is > occasionally get attacked by some new type of enemy, and have zombies placed in specific choke points > find key > find place to put key > nemesis shows up somewhere in there.
There's no cleverness to it. And what's really disappointing about that is that they completely set it up. Jill has trouble sleeping because of what happened at the mansion. She has a hallucination right in the opening sequence (which was a trailer shot). But then they never touch on that. There's no psychology to it. She doesn't hallucinate crazy ♥♥♥♥ as she's moving through the world. She doesn't question what's real and what isn't. She doesn't do anything interesting.
And every character is a terrible cliche, and they all have really strong convictions, but the story doesn't explain why.
The dialogue is dumb too. There are times when it's just you walking around and Jill makes quips to herself.
She's an insomniac who hasn't gotten any real sleep without drugs in weeks
and she's just like, "oh man, this place smells. remind me to shower as soon as i get out of here."

It's the RE formula with nothing unique or fun to make the world or characters interesting.

Early Access Review
They sold us a game with the promise of fullfilling a vision that we were all excited about. Here it is, 5 years later, and they are releasing an unfinished, broken piece of junk. They should have conceded long ago that they weren't going to be able to make the game they promised.

DayZ amounts to little more than a scam.
