I bought this game because the trailer looked good, not amazing, but good enough that I thought this would be a spiritual successor to C&C (according to this article https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/01/28/command-conquer-calculate-act-of-aggression/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rockpapershotgun%2Fsteam+%28Rock%2C+Paper%2C+Shotgun%3A+Steam+RSS%29 ) and boy was I disappointed...

Reason 1 (and my biggest gripe with this game): Although Superweapons are included (in all the factions I assume as I haven't played the others and won't be after I refund this purchase which will be happening as soon as I finish typing this review) you have to pay for EACH AND EVERY PIECE OF AMMUNITION in order to fire a shot. This SEVERELY LIMITS the effectiveness of the superweapons, in my opinion, and thus my enjoyment of the game.

Reason 2: The pace of the game overall is significantly slower than any other RTS I have ever played (and I have been a gamer for almost 20 years so you can imagine that could potentially be a lot of RTS games over the years) and is just another reason that this game is not enjoyable for me.

Reason 3: The lack of a campaign in Reboot (admittedly you do get the original version of the game included - and it does have a campaign - when you buy Reboot). Why they didn't just make a Reboot DLC package that added the new content I don't know...

TL:DR - All in all this game is NOT worth the current price (AU$39.95 at the time of writing) and is NOT AT ALL (as suggested by Rock Paper Shotgun in the linked article) a spiritual successor to Command & Conquer. I am supremely disappointed with this "game" and do not recommend ANYONE buy this even if the price drops in a future sale...

Simultaneously the most amazing and frustrating game I have ever had the pleasure of earning achievements for! I have to say that I wish I could be a part of Aperture Science's test subject group for real - It would absolutely epic to be able to go anywhere in an instant!!!
