Forcing the PSN account link after the game sold in regions unable to even make PSN accounts is an extremely scummy move

The people pretending this is okay are traitors to democracy

Rare's support line and by proxy rare itself is complicit with the homophobic and hateful behavior of this games community. Attempting to deal with both has been a colossal mess, as players in game are spouting homophobic slurs and phrases and support will not do anything about it. I won't reward a company by continuing to play its game or making purchases, and I recommend anyone with a modicum of decency to steer away.

While I've played this game plenty, I don't personally think this game has a future ahead of it. It has, for the most part, stayed true to itself in terms of game play and design but with recent changes that have been consistent, I worry about what MHW will turn in to.
Capcom has been adding new monsters to the game, however nearly all of them are temporary and limited time events, even ones you wouldn't think would be. This is typically not fun, as players will feel pressured into playing to 'get the content' while it's available, which often makes it seem more like work and less fun. This isn't the only problem though as some of these fights are overall just poorly designed. Many players like to play on their own, and nearly all monsters from all previous games were soloable should a player want to play by themselves (seeing as how content scales with amount of players, this seems most appropriate). These new siege quests require parties of players, making soloing much of it either obscenely difficult or nearly impossible.
With the recent addition of Alatreon, I find it more and more difficult to actually play or even try as this new fight is both limited in availability and design. Capcom has started adding gimmicks to fights that control the entire hunt, his being an explosion that kills all players instantly if they don't play in a hyper specific way. With how versatile builds can be, most players don't want to HAVE to build for his fight, robbing them of their choice when approaching it. Not only that, but this fights takes away basic functions such as returning to camp (counter productive to his design as he changes elements and weaknesses, thus invalidating what seems like a central concept to it).
Should this trend continue (and I have no doubt it will), I may drop this game entirely and recommend others not pick it up at all.

Early Access Review
The "game" is hot garbage. Controls are clunky and outdated, half of the mechanics are nonsense, and there's little to no actual gameplay happening. If you're looking for some kind of dinosaur game, try Path of Titans or something.

If you like games where no matter what you do, you can never get ahead, despite things being in your favor, than this dumpster fire is for you. If, however, you like games where you're allowed to play and you're not getting ♥♥♥♥ on the entire time by not only the world's worst matchmaking ever made but also every player including you own team, you should play literally anything else.

Early Access Review
Edit: I've come back to edit this review and reflect on current issues with this "game". Recently, devs have made it abudantly clear that they don't care about what the community thinks about the games direction and have even gone on to throw tantrums in the forums. Despite being an Early Access game, they don't think that new, possibly unstable additions of content should be tested and make it far more of a hassle than it should be to do so. They've enforced a particular playstyle, the mode "progression" in which you must survive a period of time to accumulate points and progess to a more advanced dinosaur, but the system basically borked. The sandbox mode, used to spawn as anything whenever, is not receiving any of the new additions, thus making this hectic mess of progression the only means to actually test anything new in the game, which can take several hours just to get to the point of spawning as whatever it is.

If this immature attitude and lack of forethought displayed by the devs doesn't change, there's a great possibility this game won't ever leave EA.

I would like to leave a positive review for this game, but I can't, It would make me a liar. Does the game update frequently? Yes, it does. I'm giving a negative review because of development issues. This game had great potential, possibly being fun for people who aren't even into the whole "dinosaur games" thing. The game is based on survival, with dinosaurs (obviously) and things aren't always going to be balanced, they shouldn't be considering it's including animals of all sorts of calibers. The problem is development and community. The community is immature and unarticulated, more so than many other game communities with children as the target audience. Many members of the community are unable to provide constructive feedback, allowing poor aspects of the game to proceed into newer builds, and the development has been less than professional about said issues and other aspects outside of player control. If you're looking to have any semblance of enjoyment or fun, look somewhere else. This 'game' provides none of the aspects that would constitute gameplay.
