Foraminifera
Avery Kimball
Two desperately hungry foxes came upon a trellis of grapes, long picked clean by belly-crawling scavengers- except for a clump at the very top, a dozen feet above the ground.

One fox leapt for those grapes, as high as they could, and fell to the ground in a heap.

"Comrade, why did you jump for the grapes? They are obviously out of reach. They are not worth the effort- best think of them as sour, and save your dignity by disdaining what you can not reach!"

"No, I am a failure. I want them, and I can not reach them. This is the world, and my nature."

They parted ways. Later, they both starved to death.
