This game is nothing special. An average racing games with 41 customizable vehicles (visual and performance). One thing I liked about this game was top camera that can be static on Z axis or rotate around Z axis to follow the player. This game has multiplayer but no one is really playing it. Single player at first was interesting. But later in the game when player unlocks higher tier vehicles, the game becomes very frustrating. It's Because AI drivers does not care about the state of their vehicle after the race and are eager to hit the player (to damage the player vehicle) just to take a corner how they are programmed. This will mean that on top tier the player will lose a lot of earned credits just for repairs, because AI were using the player as a way to turn corners faster.

I haven't played many tower defense games, but this is a pretty good one. Although the title states that this is chapter two, you don't need to play the first one to figure out what's going on.
What I found good about this game:
  • Story - it has an interesting lore and clear objective of why player need to progress in the game, things player encounter along the way. In some TD games player just go through levels but here story is told by in-level art and notes that main character makes along the way.
  • Variety - in casual mode there are many aids to help player make levels easier: talismans, skills (passive and active) Talismans and skills has many different affects to suit many play styles. But player can also make the game harder with battle traits (9 different) and often making waves stronger (enraging waves) for more kills and XP (harder games gives more XP (for skills and talismans). But more levels player finishes, easier it will get. Most importantly is not to get greedy by making the game too hard or enrage waves too much near the end.
  • Battles - The game has a ton of levels, often with different elements like obelisks (makes a random enemy stronger). The game also has vision fields that are more harder (since all aids are off). To make each level different player can build walls to make enemies go through a path. This can come to a benefit, since some levels are very open and the battle could be lost quickly without pre-planning.

The game was fun, but felt kinda short. I did like the "episodic" approach, but hated that the entire game was locked behind DLCs. AI as in many other games is moronic and can't do simple things (instead of backing away from zombies they rush to them to get damaged). And AI (teammate) problem is noticeable since the entire game is with them. But in general the game was fun and I do recommend it.

At first I thought this was a decent game 6/7 out of 10. But longer I played, I enjoyed it even more and more. I liked to explore the story before Lord of the Rings movies. Before I thought that only connection would be the tone of the game but they were able to tell a decent story of how things came to be. Gameplay is interesting, and the game had interesting mechanics like branding (controlling enemies) and many ways to progress (abilities, runes etc.). So I do recommend to play this game

Before playing this game I though it would be a low effort cash-grab from movie that came out the same year. Once it was announced that servers will shut down and an achievement will be unobtainable I gave it a shot and regretted that I didn't played this game previously. This game is amazing and I love it. This game has many thoughtful details that makes the game unique. For example, if you fall from a high altitude Max will walk slower as he would be in pain from the fall, Max will look bloodier when he gets damage until your next game session, 1st person view (kinda) while driving a vehicle for immersive vehicle combat experience, and a lot more. 100% recommend to play this game (even if 100% will no longer be an option)
