Game of the decade

Amazingly designed levels to play in, amazing music, amazing narrative, a very well resolved and explored concept of an always-moving world.

I would say some portions of the game might require some degree of mechanical/platforming skill but nothing unreasonable.

Other than the one aforementioned possible hindrance to other's enjoyment I feel this is as close to a perfect game as one can get currently.

I initially disliked the game when it first came out in its vanilla state. Despite the game itself being solid, with great graphics that give each character personality and nuanced interactions that sprout from its medley of moves and mechanics, I found its lack of content jarring and limiting. Knowing that I did not get a full package made me not want to play this game.

In it's current Champion Edition state, the game is finally in a condition that I can recommend. In addition to its already accessible, yet nuanced gameplay, it now boasts enough content to justify it as a full game, and to be very honest, more.

SFV:CE is a complete Street Fighter experience. Despite deviating a little from its roots by empowering oki-play and offense, it has its own niche as an accessible (my friend felt it was much easier to grasp this game over to Smash Bros) entry to the series. It contains heaps of both singleplayer and multiplayer content to keep you interested, and I highly recommend it as a fighting game to those who have interest in the genre.

Early Access Review
An amazing blend of Half Life 1's (HL1) faster-paced action and Half Life 2's (HL2) slower, more methodical gameplay. It retains the tight, quick gunplay and claustrophobic arenas of HL1 whilst using improved physics, models and animations to to stand toe-to-toe with others of its kind.

It not only retains the core appeal of HL1, but further improves the formula by using the Source Engine to re-invent and re-master set-pieces from HL1.

My only pet-peeve would be that the multiplayer mode for this game is reaaallly dead. So don't go into this game with the expectation of a great multiplayer.

I highly recommend this game to those new to the FPS genre, and also to those who are long veterans of various FPS games.

A good, accessible game. Generally free of bugs, it sports heaps of content waiting for hungry players to dig in. The game really excels in its gameplay: diversifying playstyles with different characters that have unique skills and abilities, in addition to many, many weapons that are different visually and functionally. However, the stiff and somewhat flat visuals of the game prevent the world of Borderlands from being something more than just a shooting simulator. Still a great game, with tons of interesting enemies and things to shoot up and collect.

Although there isn't exactly a risk of rain in game, you definitely feel a great sense of excitement when pressing onwards through a medley of handcrafted enemies, items and levels. I personally found this game a little easy as compared to other games in the genre like Nuclear Throne and The Binding of Isaac. Regardless, it did not retract from the incredible experience this game has to offer. Easily accessible and well-polished.

Easy to grasp, yet infinitely difficult to even beat. A very polished game with excellent tight controls and well balanced challenges that urge the player onwards till the end. Although it does experience some framerate-dips while dealing with the more ambitious sections of the game, it remains a must-have for anyone interested in the genre of rougelike games.

Team Fortress 2 has evolved quite a bit over the past nine years. An easily accessible, terrificly balanced and (relatively) polished game, it is the quinessential shooter for anyone and anybody interested in the Genre. The game doesn't run the best on most systems as a result of a lack of optimisation, but still remains relatively free of game-breaking bugs and glitches. Plus it's free to start.

At first glance Terraria appears to just be another cheap voxel-based video game in an oversaturated genre. However, its emphasis on combat and exploration rather than "building" gives it an unique universal niche. It remains to be one of the most handcrafted, polished games I have had the pleasure of playing both by myself and with my friends.
