im not too far into the game and haven't completed a full run, so take this review with a grain of salt
if you have experience with Pokemon Mystery Dungeon or played the Bard in Crypt of the Necrodancer, you should have a general idea of how this game plays. and it's a very fun concept! i enjoy the sorta puzzle-like combat loop of trying to find ways to get breaks on everybody to keep a "circuit" going and boost your damage and keep your blinks up, but often that system isn't possible during boss fights, which i find to bee pretty frustrating. i feel like the RNG can rly screw you over at times, too (usually in a boss fight), and you'll get caught in an infinite stunlock, surrounded by enemies and permanently stunned, instantly ruining a run.
the art style is pretty and the general concept of the story is fun, but i'm really just kinda skipping through it. i've noticed some typos and poorly worded phrases (including in the weapon/skill/relic descriptions), but i'm letting it slide since the gameplay itself is really enjoyable.
it's worth picking up on sale or as a gift from a friend, at the very least

it's a free lil dress-up game from LimboLane ! who could say no? u get to make goofy lil guys with funny lil profiles with that silly style writing they always have, and i can't help but giggle every time!
it's fun spending like 15 minutes trying to make a perfect face for somebody, and wondering "who could be next? what are they like?" cuz everybody seems so unique!
it's definitely a fun lil toy to check out, and there's even a creative mode (with a $3 dlc with more options, which i instantly grabbed :3) i think it could be a fun tool for ttrpg character inspiration too!

that being said, there's a few things that kinda get irksome >.< the head bouncing and the squishing when you place a piece can get a bit frustrating.. not even because you can't place a piece perfectly (i think those mistakes are part of the fun!), but because it kinda starts to hurt my eyes and make me dizzy @n@.. and only being able to rotate clockwise can get old pretty quick too lol
but also, it's a free game!!

good luck playing 1v1 or even 2v2 pubs, even ranked seems kinda borked because prestigued players get put up against low level players
casually, its a fun game to play, but it misses the mark for that by missing some options that would make casual players have a bit more fun with it. missing splitscreen and lobby modifiers (big head mode, snipers only, etc..) is a big whiff.
its a great game, i still enjoy it and i'll still play it and recommend to friends, but theres a lot of missed potential and some matchmaking balancing issues that make it just a lil hard to rly sell. i cant really tell if they want the game to be competitive or casual.

the story mode is the most unique way i've seen a fighting game do a story, and it's also the BEST. Boss fights are more than just "higher difficulty opponent with more health", there's actual phases and unique mechanics. There's also platforming sections? They're a bit janky since the fighting genre wasn't really made for that, but they're still neat.
