There's a reason that sweaty nerds descend upon comic book stores and board game cafes every Friday night. That reason is Magic: The Gathering.

Many people have compared this game to Untitled Goose Game however, whilst the settings are relatively similar, UGG was a quirky take on the stealth genre with some relatively interesting puzzles. I can't say the same for Thank Goodness You're Here.

TGYH has little to no gameplay. You simply walk around a town 5 times slapping things to interact and initiate comedy scenes. There's no puzzles. No game. It's more of a loosely interactive movie.

Overall it took me about 150mins to complete from start to finish - including unlocking a ton of secret scenes most players have missed. If you want an interactive movie experience with humour similar to something like Smiling Friends or Don't Hug Me I'm Scared it provides a nice little experience. If you want a something reminiscent of Untitled Goose Game I'd recommend giving it a miss.

An interesting little side story that helps to introduce players to the world of Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. It is by no means the worlds best visual novel, but as piece of marketing it's one of the most innovative and cool projects that Wizards of the Coast have put out.

Fun, deep and tactical card battler but hampered by the lack of active players.

Warhammer Underworlds is one of the most innovative TCGs in recent years. Each player chooses a warband, like your class in Hearthstone, and gets access to a pool of neutral and warband specific cards from which they can build a deck. Pretty standard stuff. What makes Underworlds different is that these cards help you in the miniatures portion of the game. Yep. This isn't your regular TCG. Players command their troops across a small hexbased battlefield and use their cards to spring traps, upgrade weapons and claim their objectives. These aspects of the game are interwoven seamlessly to the extent that it feels like neither a TCG or a miniatures game but the best of both worlds. What's more, all of the cards are given to you for free. You do not need to invest in boosters or wildcards or any of that nonsense. Simply pick a team and refine a deck around your favourite playstyle.

This strength is also one of its biggest problems. The fact that the developers have gone for this model means that there's a price tag. Its rather modest, but in a market saturated with F2P titles modest isnt quite good enough. This means that the player base is very small. At most active users hover around 30 players at a given time and you can find yourself waiting as long as 5 minutes or so between games. A card game without people to play against doesn't make for much fun. Hopefully the developers will realise this and release a freemium version with a limited number of warbands - with the ability to buy or earn more. Until then enjoy lots of downtime between games as it struggles to attract new players and people not already familiar with the tabletop version.

Everything you liked about XCOM 2 without the awkward walk 5 spaces and overwatch combat.
